A film about Simo Häyhä is being made, scheduled for release in 2027. Actor Jarkko Lahti has been cast in the lead role. The film is made by the same people who made the hit film Lapua 1976, and tells the story of sniper Simo Häyhä, highlighting his role in the Winter War and on a personal level as the person behind the myth.

Simo was a sniper, not a scout. He and 40 other finns fought of a 4000 russians for 105 days that winterwar last in Kollaa front.

Aarne Edward Juutilainen (Finnish: [ˈɑːrne ˈjuːtilɑi̯nen]; 18 October 1904 – 28 October 1976), nicknamed "Marokon kauhu" (English: The Terror of Morocco), was a Finnish army captain who served in the French Foreign Legion in Morocco between 1930 and 1935.

Back in 2005 we had continuous bicycle marches with rifles, gear and all... ..the main distance for like once or twice a month was to circle the local lake and the route was somewhere over 70km...during winters we'd ski around the same lake...

Bicycles are still very much a viable and fast method to go about the Finnish wilderness and backroads....silent, fast and easy to camouflage wherever, if you have to rapidly relocate to surround an enemy, that's the key. Mind you we don't intended to allow the russians to dig in to their positions.

According to some soviet letters/journals they legit thought they had, awoken some kind old spirit when Simo got famouse enough. (small and not connected group but still)🥶

I don’t remember the exact words simo used when he was asked later in life about his record and how he was able to just go back to farming after it, but I’m pretty sure it was something along the lines of, I didn’t kill because I wanted to or because I enjoyed it, I never cared about the record I only killed because that’s what I was needed to do and once I no longer needed to kill I simply went back to farming and hunting like normal.

Left this on the original video as well

In case you're wondering how Aarne Juutilainen earned the nickname "The Terror of Morocco", the man actually served in the French foreign legion between 1930 and 1935. Apparently he was planning on returning to France to become an officer but his plans were stopped when the Finnish army was mobilized.

Also, his brother Ilmari was a fighter ace with 94 aerial victories

Nice to see some love for the bicycle dragoons. We had them here in Sweden from the mid forties to mid seventies (I think). I grew up close to where they were housed west of Stockholm so seeing the TGAC's (Terrain Going Attack Cycle) being towed behind trucks was not an uncommon occurrence.

I think the only person in Finland who had a higher bounty than him by the Soviets was Lori Torni - another Fin you should definitely look into, he’s known as the Soldier of Three Armies and is a complete badass. He is also credited as one of the founders of the Green Berets and the USSF as a whole.
