Marcus Klingberg survived the Holocaust, fought in the Red Army, helped build Israel's secret scientific institute, and spied for the KGB for over 30 years. This is the true story of one of the Cold War's most extraordinary espionage cases.

For decades, Marcus Klingberg worked at the heart of one of Israel’s most secret scientific institutions

Marcus Klingberg was a respected epidemiologist and senior figure at Israel’s Institute for Biological Research. For years, Israeli intelligence suspected nothing while he secretly passed classified information to Soviet intelligence.

Arrested by Shin Bet in 1983, Klingberg became one of the most extraordinary espionage cases of the Cold War. But his story began decades earlier, in Poland, the Holocaust and the Soviet Union — experiences that would shape his loyalties for the rest of his life.

Built like a Cold War spy novel, Marcus Klingberg, A Perfect Spy combines archive footage, testimony from relatives and former intelligence officials, and previously unheard recordings in which Klingberg reflects on his own choices.

Was he a traitor, an ideologue, a survivor repaying a debt to the Soviet Union — or all three?
