Delta soldier "they've got me surrounded me, call in an air strike" .
SAS trooper, "they've got me surrounded, those poor bastards".

My old security boss who was ex-SAS summed it up perfectly. He said that while the Americans are calibrating their high tech equipment a British guy has killed 5 enemy combatants with nothing more than the spoon from his mess kit. Oh this made me chuckle.

The world, in general, did not know about the SAS/SBS at all until the Iranian Embassy Hostage Rescue in London. Love from the UK xxx

The US Delta Force had to abandon their mission due to not getting a signal for their i-phones and couldn't get Google Earth. 🤣🤣🤣

You just don't mess with the SAS!

when i was in the army doing my trade training,we had a couple of SAS guys at our camp. everyone got out of their way, they where huge and scary

The interrogation training is particularly brutal, with candidates having to endure the sort of punishment they will face if they are captured.
Some people have unfortunately died during SAS training due to the harsh conditions.

I think the ethos of using minimal resources and men comes from the original days when they were formed. Having to operate deep behind enemy lines means you have no resupply of ammo or equipment.
SAS default to using their weapons in single fire mode so have to pull the trigger for each shot.
They invented the "double-tap" and you are expected to not need or use more than 2 bullets per target.
This makes their job as rescuing hostages much safer and with less collateral damage.
By the end of their training they will have done hostage rescue training with live rounds, so fucking up is not an option.

its not just the jungle, SAS have 2 weeks training in the artic as well

Here in England, back in 1980, my husband and I, together with an American friend, actually watched this Iranian Hostage rescue on TV as it played out. At first, we had difficulty in convincing our friend that it wasn’t’ a film! It was a genuine nail-biter. Recently, I heard that it was due to our Prime Minister, Maggie Thatcher, that it was allowed to be filmed - she wanted the world to see what we do to terrorists in this country.

If you have it on US TV, do watch the 2 Series (so far) of SAS Rogue Heroes. Incredible!

Delta was born out of the SAS after WW2 by an American who served in the SAS in 70s.

Now go see Obi Wan Nairobi Chris Craighead who was in Nairobi when a hostage situation happened in a hotel he rescued everyone.

Delta Force and wonderful and highly respected, but Americans really do like their toys!

Thanks for another.

When the SAS and Delta force were on the same base, the American delta force being cocky put a sign up by their tent that read. ‘DELTA FORCE SECOND TO NONE’.
So the SAS put a sign up by their tent which simply read ‘NONE’

The SAS was the brainchild of David Stirling, a Scottish soldier who was serving in the Middle East and North Africa during WW2. If you want to know more, watch the British TV series SAS: Rogue Heroes (just Rogue Heroes in Australia and USA). Trust me, you won't be disappointed!
