I wish I could say that the whole problem can be just reduced to a lack or disinterest in understanding furries (yet I agree that explaining the culture helps) but I see also an increased trend to disinform and promote a moral panic (hence the disingenuous use of loaded wording like "grooming"), I can imagine because of the affinity and links between furries and the LGBTQ community and our stances toward diversity (not only sexual diversity but the full range of human diversity). As a furry that has been part of the fandom for almost two decades now, I have seen the push and pull about it being assimilated or rejected or accepted or demonized by the mainstream culture for years, and with how things are turning... We are maybe getting a target painted in our backs for... Reasons that I won't elaborate (because I don't want to antagonize much in your channel).
