I feel like most content creators who have started patreon accounts do it not because they're greedy, but because they have a genuine desire to continue sharing their joy and energy and their love of their hobby or skill or craft... while still enjoying things like being able to eat and keep their phones on and pay for all the supplies that their channel content requires.

Charlie, there is absolutely nothing boring about you, ever! Hang in there and just keep creating the awesome content that we all love!

I am 80 years old and I think of all the things I could have done, but then I think of all the things I did do! Your childhood and college experiences were way more interesting than mine. It is satisfying to think about my experiences and that I didn't turn out too boring after all. 😊 🥰

Charlie, your channel has been on my radar for a while, but recently, my brain got on board & I've been BINGING pretty much every single one of your videos on both your channels. I absolutely love everything you're doing, whether that's crafty videos or chatty videos. Right now your videos are SO soothing to my brain, so THANK YOU for putting out content ❤️

One thing I have recently realized- I  like the channels where people share a story. With you, it's the story of how you make things. I'm excited to see how you change up your storytelling!

My partner got me a book nook kit for my birthday. It was a cheap one that wasn't very intricate and was probably more aimed at kids vs the more mature and realistic ones I've seen. But I had a lot of fun making it because I ended up replacing a large amount of the little flat 2d props with actual 3d props that I either already had, found, or made for it. It turned out so much better than the original product would have. I was glad I had the base with all the furniture, cutting, measuring and planning figured out for me already so that I could put my creativity into making my own set dressings for it.

I highly recommend book nooks! But if you're like me and want something more realistic and high quality I recommend finding a nice one that comes with actual props and not just cutouts.

Yay! A Charlie video to make my day better! ❤❤❤

Also I don't think the low views are your fault. Nearly every content creator I've seen talk about this on YT is reporting lower views due to recent changes in the algorithm.

Re: wanting to do it yourself… Have you heard of “kit bashing”? It’s where you start with a kit and then to varying degrees, throw the manual out the window and do what you want with it. Or combine it with other kits! For me, it’s been a nice way to slowly transition into scratch building as I learn to make things from the kits!

When you said "book nook" I imagined a small space for your books and maybe a place to sit and read. I had no idea that a decorative diorama for your bookshelf was a common enough thing to have its own name. Very cute, can see the appeal

LOL "the elderly and sailboats" is referencing "The old man and the sea"

I’ve never understood people who complain about content creators worrying about their views going down, especially because it’s no different than if they went to their job one day and saw their work hours cut in half for the next month. They would worry and stress and kind of freak out too. But I really do think it’s the whole going back to school that has dropped the views for a lot of people. I love your channel and I think you’re doing a great job with your videos. They are very entertaining, but also informative on a lot of things. I appreciate all of your hard work in making videos for us to watch.

I watch every video on this channel and on The Stitchery within a day of it coming out (literally, I get so excited on Fridays, because I know a new video will be coming out on the main channel). That said, in case it's helpful: I get extra excited anytime there's a video about fabric scraps, creative reuse, clothing, etc. A big part of why I got into making my own clothes was the sustainability piece (fast fashion is bad for the workers and for the environment), so any time the video you make dovetails with that, especially when it inspires a project of my own, I'm liable to go back to it and watch it over and over again!

27:28 this is the sort of thing I think a Patreon could be really good for! It's not the same as having people to collaborate directly with, but I have a strong feeling that most of the people who would support you on Patreon would also be creative people themselves and have a lot to offer!

Charlie, you are one of the few YouTubers who I regularly watch. I have been binge watching you videos on your main channel to body double while I work on projects and FINISH them. I also watch you to unwind right before sleep because of your storytelling and calm voice. Hang in there

I love every video you do on both channels! Please don't ever doubt yourself or your talent - I'm always thrilled to see a new video, but I also rewatch your videos when I'm having a bad day. 😊❤

The september drop has hit most channels pretty hard. Schools, new jobs, the flu season. Changes to youtube. It's pretty much an annual thing by now.

Everyone’s numbers are going down due to some changes in their processes and new regulations.  So don’t feel too deflated.  We still love you and watch you!

I’ve been wanting to do a book nook for years, so it feels so fitting that you posted this on my birthday. Thanks ❤

I bought and assembled a booknook with my 20 year old son and loved it. It is on my shelf and everytime I see it, it reminds me of the time we spent together doing it.

The way you have expanded Matt's idea of a boat Into boat kit and an actual Island is Just what I do all the time ! Creativity juces are flowing and I can't stop !))
