Today, we’re reacting to Crystal Nicole—also known as CurlieCrys—and her latest life update. Crystal is enjoying her new Dallas era, celebrating one million TikTok followers, building new friendships, and looking absolutely gorgeous while doing it!
But this life update took a turn when Crystal started talking about jealous friends, resentful men, complicated mother-daughter relationships, women disappearing for a man, and the role confidence and pretty privilege may play in how people treat you.
I like Crystal, so this is not a drag—but liking somebody doesn’t mean we can’t slide a few statements across the boutique counter for inspection!

I tried to watch her vlog in its entirety, but I didn’t get a chance to finish it. I think Crystal has grown substantially outside of YouTube and mostly comes back now to fulfill her hour-long sponsorships/campaigns. I still enjoy them, but I also understand that she’s in full-blown influencer territory now.
Whew, this conversation was A LOT to take in But you’re absolutely right… not everyone is jealous of you. Sometimes when you’re extremely goal-oriented and driven, you can unintentionally become distant or unavailable to the people around you. It doesn’t necessarily make anyone the bad guy; sometimes people simply grow in different directions.
Now, as for the restaurant comment… I think sometimes we assume that confidence, appearance, success, or how well someone is dressed automatically translates into how they’ll be received by other people. But attraction and connection are subjective. Someone not “giving you a seat at the table” doesn’t necessarily mean anything negative about you, or them. Sometimes there simply isn’t a connection, and that’s OK too. Everybody isn’t for everybody.
Rephrase . I use to think everyone was racist . Racist . Racist . Racist . My mother who was unapologetically black , never rich and never ever waited , exuded confidence and told me that I needed to expect more as well . Now that I'm in my pretty girl era ; loving to dress up and admittingly older , I have experienced it first hand , getting seats at a reservation only establishment, without reservations and I was the only black person in the room . I presented well and I expected service and I got it 😍. Case for the defendant , Tye. Crystal is right 🥰. Dress the part .
The clips alone you presented just doesn’t bode well for me. There have also been creators that I like that I’ve unsubbed from.
One she had mostly great content, but I found her to be overly negative and oftentimes unlikely. That’s not a her problem, it’s a me problem. She was consistently herself, but I had moved on from those topics. Instead of me being annoyed, I moved on.
