Hi, I'm Charlotte Dobre. I'm an actor, reactor, singer and sometimes (not really) comedian. On this channel I do reactions, commentary and occasionally I make a joke or two. I love poking fun at social media, weddings, entitled people, tiktok and OF COURSE petty people. I upload daily, usually 7 days a week, unless life gets crazy or I get lazy. Come hang out, it's a good time.

I’ve been there… a MIL and FIL verbally abused me for an hour while my boyfriend just watched, sitting cross armed. He didn’t have the courage to even look at me. I fell out of love with him in that moment and I knew in that moment that he was a coward after all. The beginning of the end.

To quote Nelson Mandela: if you are neutral in situations of Injustice, you have chosen the side of the oppressor.

He "dissociated" listening to his mom says it all: this is a guy who's been soul-killed by his parents. Thank the gods he found a therapist who actually knows how to therapize. It's realistic to expect him to "relapse" in his process.

Our son had a girlfriend that neither of us liked at all. We thought their relationship was a really bad idea for many reasons. So you know what we did when she was around? We were friendly to her, we welcomed her to family events, got her presents for Christmas. He eventually broke up with her on his own accord and we didn’t jeopardize our relationship with our son by mistreating someone he cared about.

YEARS AGO (41 to be exact) I went to meet hubby's mom and step dad. Mom is great! Step dad....not so much. One night Step dad and I were talking and he said "I dont like you cuz you remind me of my first wife." I said " that's ok, I'm not doing you, I'm doing your son. OMG!!! He didn't talk to me again til after we had our first child! But he told MIL that he respected me for standing up to him.

Charlotte, I'm an old woman, nearing 70. As someone who has also been in therapy b/c: issues, I want to tell you that you are a very wise soul, particularly b/c of your youth. I thoroughly enjoy listening and watching you in these videos. Blessings, you lovely Canadian!

For anyone who needs to hear this: You are allowed to break up with anyone, at any time, for any reason. If you don't want to be in that relationship anymore, just end it and move on.

BF's mom wouldn't have made me cry. Nor would she have berated for 3 hours. After the first BS comment out of her mouth and the BF sitting there like a statue, I would have got up with a parting shot..."There's a word for a woman like you that is not used in polite society and only used in the kennels!" Had I stayed long enough for her comment that there is nothing I could give BF that she couldn't, my response..."Wanna' bet? And if you do give him that, you need to be arrested!" I'm not petty like you Charlotte. I'm jaded and life's too short to put up with BS. Flush it fast! Love ya'.

As someone who grew up with abusive parents, the thing about disassociating to the point of being unable to respond is so very real. When you grow up with it, your brain is just conditioned to shut down and it is automatic. She doesn't understand the effect of the trauma on him. One year from the time he started therapy to "no contact" due to continued disrespect from his parents is pretty short. It took me almost five. I would suggest moving FAR AWAY. It helps. And NO WAY to the relatives trying to help!

11:05 this woman is INSANE. She is trying to break you and destroy you for her own satisfaction. how you stayed there for 3 hours is beyond me!

My Mom made an off-handed comment to my wife at my Dad's funeral. Mind you, this was less than 2 weeks after we got married. I stood up for her & stated she needed to apologize that was in 2016. It is now 2025, with no apology = no contact.

I just had an epiphany: the partner is such a nice person bc that was his trauma response from growing up with her as his mom. Fight. Flight. Freeze. Fawn.

The first one, he’s just recognizing that his parent’s behavior isn’t normal! He’s undoing 30 years of this toxic relationship with his parents. I wouldn’t blame you for leaving.

I remember the 1st time I met my now husband parent's (they are Italian, I'm Portuguese and not Christian 😀) I said something to his mother about how eating fruit without the peal loses most of its nutrition (because she is obsessed with diet and healthy diet and was peeling a pear to eat it at night) she starts complaining, his father comes and starts yelling at my face, my then bf saw me freeze and dissociate as he recognized I was entering my self protection mechanism caused by my mom's joy to constantly yell at me. He came between us, and told his family that either they stop or they will lose another child, and that I was the woman he wanted to marry and either they get with the program or they are out of his life. Then he took me away, tried to calm me down cuz i just broke into tears once we were in private and he said we are going to pack the bags and leave the next morning. I never wanted to get married, but that alone convinced me to make an exception to him ❤ still happily married and completely in love

Some boy moms can’t handle their sons finding someone. I had someone in my family like that. She point blank said that she was happy that her son never found anyone because of all he did for them. She didn’t want him to have to divide his time.

OP sounds like an educated, professional and self-sufficient woman (teacher, bought her own house) and I admire her commitment and patience with the boyfriend. She needs to ask herself if she is up for a lifetime of drama and hostility which will likely increase exponentially. Life brings enough hardship on its own. You really don't need to marry into it, girl.

11:45 I get the feeling that the mother doesn't think that she will be gone in a month. In my experience you get that kind of behavior when they are threatened by your presence. Meaning she thinks that her son is gonna keep this one and she doesn't like it. But that's just how I see it.

11:55 this girl needs to run! Break up with the financé and his MOMMY!

@g00dy2sh03s 1 year ago

"She only acts like this because noone stands up to her" that part! It's the worse, because noone wants to mess with the peace.. But they are the ones ruining the peace. Love your videos Charlotte! You give amazing advice <3

My aunt and grandma always told me “you marry the family too”

Run. Run before anything is legal. Do not tie your life to that man. You owe him nothing. Staying around with a woman like that in your life….you need good grandparents for your kids, you need family you feel safe with watching your kids
