As someone with seizures I can attest that stress is a major trigger and that poor woman was so stressed that her body just was so tired from convulsing it gave up.

Somewhere out there, a dragon just cancelled his evil plans for the night because of this video. (It was me.)

Well, of course he was devastated. Not only did his wife dye, but also his cousin, and his niece. That is a lot of lose.

poor stephanie was treated terribly by her husband, her own family and even her mother-in-law. sisi called her a trampeltier behind her back, even though she herself had suffered a lot as a young wife, so she knew exactly how hard her daughter in law had it at court. despite this, she showed no empathy towards her and sided with his spoiled son who made stephanie infertile. such a shame

Two small corrections, Anne of Austria was Maria Theresa's paternal aunt and maternal aunt through marriage. Hence, why Maria Theresa called her "tia" in Spanish since that means "aunt". And Philip III married his cousin; Philip IV was the one who married his niece.

It is crazy how greed will destroy people

I just watched  the video about Leopold's teenage Mistress.  That man up to the very end had no shame. The atrocities he committed in the Congo Free State were beyond hideous and horrible. His whole fortune came from the blood  of all those murdered in the Congo.

Really enjoyed this. How sad to have been a Habsburg princess. It was interesting to hear what happened to Stephanie after Rudolf’s death.

Wonderful, will listen to before bed 😊

Absolutely outstanding video! I’m truly impressed by how the channel uncovers the dark truths hidden behind royal glamour.

Stéphanie of Belgium’s story is one lifelong tragedy: from the Mayerling scandal in 1889, losing her entire fortune to her father’s mistress, to being ostracised by the Habsburgs just for daring to remarry for love.
Seeing little Margarita Teresa immortalised in Velázquez’s Las Meninas, only to die at 21 from the consequences of Habsburg inbreeding, is such a heartbreaking contrast between art and reality.
Maria Theresa’s dying words — “Since I became queen, I have known only one happy day” — still hit so hard.
Both Anna of Austria and Elisabeth of Austria (1526–1545) were victims of Renaissance marriage politics, dying young from illness and the crushing weight of the crown.

Thank you Forgotten Lives for telling these lesser-known stories so completely and emotionally. This isn’t just history — these are very real tragedies of women born with the burden of a crown.
Can’t wait for the next episode! ❤

1:36 I really don’t understand why Belgium has not been held accountable. I know it was Leopold not the people, but they built modern Belgium on colonial gains, and I don’t get why they don’t have to apologize and pay some money. He was a psycho.

Thank You FL!!
Much 💜 from  🇨🇦

6:03 Elisabeth Marie was younger than my own GRANDFATHER! I’m only 55! My grandfather was 60 when my mother was born, my grandma 45, so I know we’re 1-2 generations off of normal, but sometimes it blows my mind.

Hello my friend!!! I watched this yesterday.  I forgot to leave a comment  then .I really enjoyed all these stories.  Too bad they didn't  know about marring within the Families. Things mite have all been different...Thanks  for these stories...Great Video!!!...Your fan&friend from USA 🇺🇸...🐧🦋

An excellent documentary. Interesting & informative & with much content usually ignored by general run-of-the-mill history. It paints a bleak picture of what these princesses endured  & one can only hope that they found some monents of happiness in their lives. Many thanks.

I don't know how all those royal and aristocratic couples managed to avoid syphilis. The ones who were faithful were the exceptions, not the rule.

Forgotten Lives, thank you for the extra-long compilation. I appreciate all your exceptional content. 💯

I hate being 'that' person, I truly do. But that photo of 'Stephanie and her sisters legal battle' was a photo of serial killer Hawley Harvey Crippen during his sentencing. He was a serial killer from the very early 1900's and was eventually executed. His wife, also in this photo, was also guilty. I'm not quite sure how their photo got confused for one of Princess Stephanie. Also, unless someone has read about Crippen's rather obscure life and dead they'd never know the difference.

Fascinating.  Could you do Bohemia, Moravia, and Slovakia?

Everyone  was related to every one  else something  about  incest!
