The film "Angkor, a Temple Saved from the Waters: The Restoration of the West Mebon (Cambodia)" recounts the major stages of the restoration project carried out by the EFEO (French School at Athens) and the Cambodian authority APSARA (Authority for the Protection of the Site and the Development of the Region) from 2013 to May 2018. The restorations and excavations associated with this project have provided a better understanding of the unique place occupied by the West Mebon, an 11th-century temple, during the Angkorian period.

A unique work in the history of the temples of Angkor, the Mebon is an ambitious project, a symbiosis of architecture and engineering, of stone and water, a religious structure that sanctified these hydraulic works. A testament to its complex and still partly enigmatic history, the large bronze statue of Vishnu was discovered there. It constituted a monumental representation of the myth of the creation of the world, resting on a serpent in the middle of the primordial ocean.

The film, directed by Didier Fassio for Paris Science et Lettres-Université Paris (PSL) and the French School of Asian Studies (EFEO).
