Jimny could have been a game changer for Maruti but the pricing ruined everything.

Imagine spending 18 Lakh for Jimny, You can literally buy a Thar 4x4 Petrol for 16.5 Lakh.

One thing majorly noticed in India car market is people doesn't value good quality cars and then complain manufacturer don't bring or manufacture good cars in India.

Biggest problem is the underpowered engine and overall lower gearing. It revs much higher like 3k for a normal 100 kph ride on a highway.

The two types of people you mentioned is extremely accurate, I ride motorcycle predominantly and often see people drive this so called mahindra's thar like a maniac on busy streets. It has become sort of royal enfield of cars, drivers probably feel like a king when they drive it but in reality we know their so called 'aukaat'.

The main reason why it feels overpriced is that it is meant to be worked upon! Jimny is a highly customisable vehicle and if the price was lower, customers could have enjoyed putting money on this car to make it even a better offroader!

Only Maruti Suzuki can call S-Presso an SUV and Jimny an off-roader.

I cancelled my booking right from launch Totally agree about 'Overpriced '
iska Jo ex-showroom pice hai actually Onroad price hona chahiye tha ..Aisa lagta hain ki Sigma aur delta version (9- 10 lakh version )nikalne ka waqt aa gaya ha

if today we didn't have bs6 then maruti would have proudly given the national engine of India the 1.3 turbo and enjoyed a lower pricing and great power even if I consider bleak future of diesels

I love Indian brands all cars but I'm fan only Scorpio

The huge advantage of jimny is its narrow size, which a lot of people seems to be missing... Thar does look butch.... But cannot do most of the offroading mainly because of our narrow offroading tracks...

Now Thar becoming the dominator in off road segment ❤

I was born in a remote village of uttarakhand.. and right from childhood i have been witnessing the capabilities of mahindra jeeps and utility trucks which are still the life line of remote hilly areas... a suv should have basic 2 characterstic first a torquey engine.. second water wading capacity.
I have also seen the capqbilities of a gypsy it belonged to a completelly different and unique segment it was a perfect all terrain vehicle. the light weight and a powerful engine made it perfect choice for car rallys. jimny stands nowhere close to the gypsy.. one more thing to add gypsy had a mileage of 7,8 kmpl.

Thar has a massive look .

@gamertruth1993 3 years ago

Who else noticed that he stated Jimny's boot capacity as 219mm instead of 219 Litres.

What an excellent presentation! Each point is spot on and I see Jimny getting discounted in under 3 years.

I booked innitially and then again cancelled it...Maruti grow up!
Maruti really need a proper new management team who can really understand the Indian market.

Last not the least Built Quality.

Thar looks way better, wider body and solid looks. Also better on specs sheet including the pricing

Wait for the 5 door Thar boys 😎

Test drove jimny today! It's sort of a little powerful Omni! The onrad is around 17L. The GST of 38% has made it over priced and road taxes add it around 20% over it!
