Unfortunately this just reminded me that humanity takes 1 step forward, 3 steps back.

humanity will never learn.....makes me so sad :(

It’s completely unnerving watching this as a millennial and realizing my generation has lived through a majority of these.

The reporter's voice on the Hindenburg disaster is both frightening and saddening at the same time. You can really hear the terror in his voice as he watches people die in the sky.

When Chernobyl happened, workers were only allowed 1 minute to shovel up debris. People stood on "the death bridge", watching the power plant burn, not knowing the hugh amount of radiation that they were being bombarded by. They didn't live long.

You got the names of the atomic bombs backwards.  "Little Boy" was dropped on Hiroshima and "Fat Man" was dropped on Nagasaki.

The 7/7 Bombings in London 2005. It happened the day after the announcement that London was going to host the 2012 Olympics.
The other 1 was when Queen Elizabeth 2nd died. Her death affected so many people across the world.

Yes, Jonestown is where the term "Drinking the Kool-Aid" came from, but the drink that was used was grape Flavor Aid.

I was a baby but my mom still talk about her best friend Diane who went to Jonestown.
Since i was a kid she'd speak of her. She was extremely brilliant and beautiful.

1:13  I live in Castle Douglas, a town near Lockerbie. My mum was just born 6 months before. My grandpa was a fire firefighter during the bombings, there wasn’t any water in their fire trucks so they used a Fire Hydrant at the Railway Station. The horrors and hellish landscape he seen, dead people, pets. Everything. After all the destruction. He was assigned to inspect the nose of the aircraft along with other fighters and police. Him and a colleague cut the dead pilots out of their seats. A horrible disaster that shook Dumfries & Galloway FOREVER. RIP Everyone.

I'm a 48yo Dane and the first major event, I remember, is the Chernobyl Disaster. I was only 9yo when it happened, but I saw the rare footage, that had slipped out from it, of the wrecked plant on the TV news. Then we suddenly had to wash our fruits and vegetables. I guess my little brain did the math, that what I'd seen on TV and the washing of produce went together because something about that wrecked plant, made it so we had to wash them before eating them. The next I remember was the fall of the Berlin Wall, aged 12.

I was there at the 2004 tsunami, my family were on the beach. It’s hard to think if they were on the wrong beach, they wouldn’t be here including at the time my 1 yr old baby brother. It happened on the weekend of my parents wedding. We were so lucky that our home and beach were shielded to the west of India

When they started drilling that rescue hole to pull up the miners from the Chilean mine accident, I watched it live both on TV and phone, all the way from the drilling and until the last man was pulled up.
Don't remember how many hours it took, but it was over 33 hours. And I didn't sleep at all.

My teacher from 5th grade was one of the students of the teacher that died on the challenger mission

I saw so many of these happen, and they still affect me. I took my son a few years ago to the Ripley's Believe It or Not museum in Hollywood, and they had a big chunk of the wall there. I started crying when I saw it and told my son about my teacher in middle school who told us how he was separated from his family because of the wall, and how I got to watch be it torn down. It was so intense to watch it happen. I had a history teacher that had a film taken at the concentration camps in WWII, he made us watch one when we were learning about the war. He got fired, but watching them, even just a few minutes was scarring. I also had a teacher who tried to teach us about HIV/AIDS and safe sex. She locked the door and rushed to tell us as much as she could while the principle was pounding on the door, she was arrested during class. It was scary as a kid. That was a few weeks after the World Aid Concert, we all knew Mercury had died, but obviously didn't understand the disease. At that time it was just "a gay disease" but my teacher wanted us to know it wasn't and how to protect ourselves, she also tried to debunk some of the things in the news.

I remember the Charlie Hebdo tragedy so well.  I offered as much support as I could to people I'd met at concerts as early as 2009, who had become dear friends by that time in 2015.  And the musician who had brought us together (Matthieu Chedid, aka M) wrote an anthem based on the slogan "Je Suis Charlie" to support freedom of speech and of the press.

I can’t believe that it is going to be 5 years since the beginning of COVID. The pandemic was scary; staying indoors, waiting outside at a grocery store or drug store. I mean the virus is still there but man time flies by so fast

It’s crazy how much we’ve survived so far, but how much is yet to come.

Katrina is one of the scariest events I’ve ever experienced. And we still haven’t recovered.
