If you want to See me react to One Piece Episode one Go to my other Channel after you watch this video of course: https://youtu.be/_DWgM3hV2D8?si=wePB14AN80m-_0o7

Idk why, but its wholesome to see someone my age getting into anime at this age. Keep on brother.

Oda creator of one piece said "the story will near to its end when a pirate with eye patch appears" that's why no one wears eye patch cause he's saving it for someone really important right before the story ends and yes right now one piece have entered in its final saga

"the current arc is the best in the entire series" told 8 years ago, and remarkably is still a statement that can be made today, its a story that seems to just get better and better and better. with only a few small bumps in the roads (looking at you LRLL and Thriller Bark)

When he says " technically better illustrators", he is not saying "oh they're  TECHNICALLY better" like they are barely better, he is saying that their technique is better. So yes, he's specifically referring to pure drawing ability, and yes that includes basic readability of panels (oda is not always the best at this). But, oda is very good at paneling and other aspects of being a manga author that are related to drawing but aren't necessarily sheer skill at moving a pencil on paper, you know what i mean? Oda is really good at the flow of panels on a page and he is one of the absolute GOATS of the page-turn. That moment where you've built up all this tension across some pages, and then you turn the page one more time and BOOM the big awesome spread hits you.

Edit 2: some people in the replies are being semantic pains, so here is THE official explanation straight from SBS Volume 41:

"D: Odacchi! Here's a question for you! Crocodile can't fight water because he's "sand," right? Then how does he bathe?! Does he at all?! That's filthy!! Do you bathe, Odacchi? by Crocodile's Mother
O: First of all, let's discuss the problem of Devil Fruit users bathing themselves. People who have eaten a Devil Fruit are "hated" by the sea, and cannot swim. The "sea" here can refer to anything from rivers, pools and baths to any kind of standing water. On a worldwide level, they are all the "sea." When these people enter the water, not only can they not use their powers, they have trouble moving their bodies at all. They might be able to struggle a bit, but it wouldn't do much good. That's if their entire bodies are submerged in the "sea." With less than half the body or just the limbs, it gets easier. Also, rain and dripping water have no effect at all. Therefore, hip baths or showers are the most common choice. Now, in Crocodile's case, "water" is the weakness of his very powers, so his abilities are robbed even in the shower. But it's not like there are enemies around when you take a shower, so I'd bet he would take them even with his powers being blocked. Don't you think?"

Edit: for all the people in the back screaming "tHaT's NoT wHaT sTaNdInG wAtEr MeAnS"... I a quoting Oda DIRECTLY. If HE (or the translators) is using the term incorrectly, that's on him.

Oda has explained multiple times how the Devil Fruit weakness to water works, but fans just REFUSE to learn for some reason, so here we go:

The weakness of devil fruit users is not saltwater specifically, but any STANDING water (so the ocean, or a river, a bath, a spa, a very large puddle even); as long as ANY body of water can submerge them, they are weakened, which translates to their bodies going numb, as in they literally go limp and can't move their bodies. The water does NOT cancel their powers, so Luffy is still technically stretchy, he just gets sapped of all energy and is frozen in place as he sinks.

They are NOT weakened by RUNNING water, like rain, showers or mist. To put it simply, Luffy can drown in a bathtub if he is submerged, but he can take a shower with no problem.

Now I KNOW that SOME people are gonna comment "erm what about xyz character?" - those are all EXCEPTIONS caused by very SPECIFIC powers. So SPOILERS:
Crocoboy is weak to all liquids BECAUSE of his sand powers.
Moria's Zombies are weak to salt BECAUSE of real life voodoo legends.
Aokiji can freeze bodies of water and walk on them, etc etc.

I love watching you’re anime journey takes me back to when i started mine. Glad to re live these moments with you!!

Oda isn't as involved in the anime as he is with the live-action. The anime is usually a close 1:1 adaptation of the manga, so his daily input isn't really needed there. But the live-action is a different story—he's stated it's one of his biggest dreams come true. He’s been incredibly hands-on with it, even taking manga breaks to travel to South Africa to help with filming and ensure they get it right.

33:24 it was a duel, Ussop challenged Luffy because of the issue they were having, so nobody was allowed to intervene.

5:36 to answer your question, the devil fruit weakness to water is shown as a sapping of strength rather than full on forgetting how to swim. How submerged in said water is what heightens or weakens that feeling of no energy. Devil fruit users can still bathe and shower, but if they get submerged above their hips, they're useless in the water.

"The Politics of One Piece" is still a great video to watch, it explores the central themes of One Piece (freedom vs justice) and is aimed at people who only know about One Piece because it was all over the news a couple months ago.

Sometimes I feel like I am faster than light

I like this guys channel! He has good videos!

23:50 the reason nobody has an eyepatch yet is because Oda is saving it for a special time in the future that marks a huge change for the story. Even today we haven’t seen any pirates with an eyepatch yet

DO THE LIVE ACTION. I feel like it'll be right up your alley.

The live action is 100% a great way to get into the series imo :)

Manga is definitely my preferred medium for One Piece :D

24:16 100% accurate. Oda is saving it

The anime's pacing is criminal, I've been reading OP for almost 20 years now, that's the masterpiece. I am hoping the Wit version in 2027 fixes that.

14:01 with the live action Oda has a crap ton of control. He gets final say on any changes they make to the script He gets to help pick out all the actors for the main characters He even gets to call for reshoots if he doesn't think a scene was done right they basically begged him to give his seal of approval on everything because they wanted to do his story Justice
