I love my HW97KT, S400F, but I also love my much smaller and lighter BRK Pathfinder XR, they're all pretty accurate too? Quotes of the day, 'You'll be poking the squirrels out of the trees', 'He's not very good, at least I know which end to look down'!😂.
It seems a lot of FX (ish) rifles leak. Not good really, for a pricey gun. The other day I bought down a forgotten Crossman 2240, from my loft. I thought I had sold it. Its been up there, in a case for 2 years. It still held enough Co2 for 30 good shots.
I'm on the point of buying an FX king FAC, purely for long range slug shooting, it seems a hell of a lot of dosh for what it is ..but.. if it does what say they it does then I'll be happy..Accuracy and consistency are the key things, hopefully the trigger's a given..it's an expensive hobby for sure
Glad you got a good Meta, Nick. Very good accuracy and no leaks! Worth getting a spare set of seals for it though, just in case. The FX is a sick puppy, and seems to have a reg issue. Perhaps you should recommend the customer has it serviced, and the reg swapped out for a more reliable Huma, if they do one for the Maveric. Never had much luck with FX airguns, although my AGS LiteW8, based on the FX2000 action, still going strong to this day (fingers crossed).
Probably a balancing issue between the regulator and hammer spring. If its over sprung it sends loads of extra air down the barrel. If its under sprung you get the fps spread where the first few hits from the hammer cant release the reg pressure properly. 🤷♂️ You probably know all this already, just saying.
I expect a £600 gun to hit the target too, otherwise what's point of it? I've heard it said, ostensibly, FXs are problematic and should be called FiX LOL.
Nick what is your view on soft bedding springers? Maybe you could try it with a loose stock and with a good fitting stock and make a vid, and a couple of shorts, out of it. I've got a HW95 with a Tinbum that smoothed it out noticeable, and I wonder what a few strips of neoprene tape pulling the mech' in tight might do for smoothness and accuracy.
Tim,you said a top marque rifle like the maverick would not of given you much content but as you see FX are notorious for good and bad the one you have there would of given you more content if you showed the work you did, thebposible iffy seals and the debris
Cheers Nick Your still not going to 'Convert' me to PCP's I can appreciate their accuracy but feel more 'science experiment ' than Marksman when ever i have Used one!
