So happy to hear my hometown mentioned. 😊 I was born and raised at the foot of Yashima. We used to climb to the summit to look out over Dan-no-ura and even throw clay pigeons. Also to visit the temple there.

I still have an old scroll depicting the famous battle between the Heike and Genji.

Huge fan of this channel and learn so much. Thank you!!!

An utterly absorbing series about the rise of the Samurai. What an amazing history.

Great series. I hope you guys continue it into the Hojo usurpation of the shogunate, the Mongol invasions, the Kenmu restoration, the rise of Ashikaga shogunate and the Northern/Southern court period.

Just finished watching Shogun on your recommendation from a previous video in this series. Both Shogun and this podcast are riveting pieces of historical media! Much love from Serbia and the Balkans ❤

What an enjoyable and enlightening series. Perhaps you would consider a series on Admiral Yi Sun-sin and his heroic defense of Korea from Japan during the Imjin War. His story has so many similarities to Admiral Lord Nelson, and it truly deserves a wider telling in the West.

What an enjoyable series! I've read the Tale of the Heike several times, but it's so much fun to hear your take. Very well put together and I love the illustrations.

Awesome series! A series about the most famous samurai Miyamoto Musashi would be a great continuation.

As good as the series on The French Revolution. Absolutely fabulous. Well done to all at TRIH.

Great podcast thank you! My only regret is, I can't help but realise how much detail must be skipped over to give us the key points, to make it fit in a reasonable time for a youtube video. All these stories would make such a great movie(s)!
