Some things I want to add on to this video

-I completely forgot to mention the Spider Mastermind for the Doom Collab, so uh oops

-There were a lot of quick captions in this video, and I apologize if they were too much, I will take that into consideration if I make another one.

-There was an area seen in the Skybound Erie overview that had a ton of red crystals. People were theorizing about Malzeno or Gaismagorm returning due to this, and while I do think Primordial Malzeno is a possibility I mainly think it's a hint that Ruby Basarios or a new Gravios variant is coming. Or maybe it means nothing. I won't deny that it could be one of the previously mentioned Elders returning, but that would also mean the Qurio would come back and I don't see them fitting into Wilds personally.

I get what you mean, but ngl, Gens 4 and 5 base games are not only easier but also take even less effort in certain aspects, especially the "hunting" you mentioned (instead of tracking, gathering was genuinely so free in those two generations).
Wilds was my first entry in a loooong time where gathering and preparing actually seemed to matter ToT and I find this a lot more important than the already lackluster paintball tracking (which was bypassed way too easily as is) and the World tracking that maybe perhaps probably COULD have been cool, but it was really all show tbh.

MH4 monsters evaporate to mount attacks, MHGen monsters stood no chance against arts and styles they weren't built for (and also mounting in some cases), MHWorld monsters were the slowest organisms to exist and practically just stood there, and MHRise monsters disintegrated to all of the gimmicks in that game.  They all had really powerful farms for gatherable items too, and really early on.

Wounds and Focus Strikes felt oppressive, but at least monsters *moved*. I will always feel like there's more brain power usage going into even this game's low rank than the HIGH RANKS of the previous 2 gens. It's just very doable now after the games you've already had experience with. The Wilds item farm was unlocked notably later, and running out of honey, ores, plants/seeds etc was ACTUALLY a thing.

Minus the valid tracking issues, Wilds is more of a return to form for MH than anything.


Also, iirc, Lao is going to show up with little to no warning, wreaking havoc in the Peaks of Accord before we get to prepare. We found Gog sleeping and we were allowed to not only have an entire team meeting, but even run around the Basin Base Camp and speak with everyone involved before going down there where Werner is prepping the landspine stuff. it was emphasized that trying to fight Gog is almost certain doom without the siege gear we had in his original appearance (not spoiling which game if you don't know), hence the stress of importance of getting the old weapon up and running. Just thought I'd clear that up :D

Personally I feel like Wilds is the best Base Game we’ve gotten with the new generations. Worlds Base game was alright but the Monster Roster was very lackluster to me until they started with the updates and was kinda easy despite it being my first Monster Hunter. Rises was better then Worlds but for me it was always missing something, I also think Rises Base game was widely easier then Wilds in difficulty. To me Wilds has it all from its Base game roster to its uniqueness, personally I feel its was more challenging than Rises Base game which I went through the whole thing without 3 carting until late endgame. I’m aware that Wilds has its problems but through the updates the games only gotten better..aside from Gogs slot machine weapons…So yeah, that’s my 2 cents on Wilds.

That said, pretty good video. Some decent research despite your admitted rookie status in the community. Only real advice I would give is less quick captions in the next one. I don't mind them as a gag but going overkill with them can sour the watching experience.
Also in the realm of collabs my pie in the sky dream for Ascendance is for a Digimon collab. They created two new monsters for the V-Pets in RathGreymon and ZinoGarurumon, and they have to show up in SOMETHING on the MonHun end, right? Not to mention that I would absolutely DIE for Dramon Killer dual blades, Transcendent Sword GS, Supreme Cannon bowgun (or gunlance), and an Omnimon armor set!

To me, it just gets more obvious that Glavenus is coming to Wilds. He's a popular monster, we need larger Brute Wyverns, his ecology fits with the locales (also, we haven't seen a cutscene with him in a Volcanic region yet so...maybe in the Oilwell Basin we'll get to see that?), he's the perfect candidate for a power clash animation (the Generations cutscene is RIGHT THERE!) and the guy who is working on Ascendance worked on the Generations games and Iceborne, all of which Glavenus appeared in. There HAS to some be favoritsm there.

The sad thing is, based on the interviews, they did not learn. They are setting Ascendance up to be exactly what you and many of us don't want, maybe between Wilds and what we want. They said, to paraphrase, they don't want walls in the story and that we'll get difficulty at the endgame. They also said Wilds was only as easy as it was because they underestimated average player skill. That's why I say it'll be in the middle between where it is and where it should be. The curve has to be there. Not just to teach newer players but to make the story and earlier fights both more fun and memorable. The devs, in these interviews, act like World's better difficulty curve was a failure. Some title update fights were well designed, built around the moveset and not gimmicks. Others were not. I was fine with lunastra, in base World, beause heat guard worked. Her nova's passive heat and standing in fire did nothing with that skill. Unlike vaal, you still had to watch out beause exploding fire patches still hurt. Then Iceborne made the skill not work in master rank.

I started with World, a couple months after launch. I've went back to GU, recently, with a friend who started in Rise. Older fans have fond memories of the early to mid game monsters that start to pose a challenge. The difficulty increases, of varying amounts, have been sacred since MH1. Yian kut ku has the nickname of sensei (Japanese for teacher) for that reason. Them abandoning this mentality is very sad. I have fond memories of my experience with difficulty ramping up, in a very reasonable way, with fights like anjanath, rathalos, and the anticlimax of diablos in World. Why in Gog's name does rathalos always forget he can poison the hunter. Rathian uses it more, where rahtalos used fire more, I get it but Rise and Wilds went too far. Alatreon is a gimmick the team admitted was poorly executed. Gogmazios, in Wilds, was them doing that again but correctly. Fatalis is one of the most tense but fair move sets i've seen... But it's a keg stand, that the team forces you to do because they were not confident that the fight itself would be hard enough. They were very wrong and I pray they don't make that mistake again. A speedrun should always be optional, unless it's like arena quests. Don't make a monster that's only fightable in that format. Let me enjoy my whiskey Capcom, it's not cheap beer.

Agreed on the Scout flies 100%. My hunting buddy got sick of the owl too and, without realizing it, asked for pretty much scoutflies to come back. Still going through GU, as me and a friend wiat for Ascendance, nearing the end of high rank as a 2 player team. I understand not finishing the old games, hub especially because that's scaled the same if you have 1 player or 4.

Although, I'm personally with you on the difficulty curve and missing the "hunting" feel of Monster Hunter, but on the other hand it's because of Wilds that I was finally able to get some of my buddies and even brother invested in Monster Hunter, they hated how slow World could feel and didn't enjoy how long it took to get to the monster so they backed out before it picked up it's pace. But with Rise/Sunbreak and now Wilds being more mainstream and faster pace they found more enjoyment. So it's kind of a give or take situation, do you cater to older fans who enjoy the hunting aspect, or do you cater to new fans trying to step foot in the franchise? And it seems Capcom is trying to find a way to balance both, whether or not it's working is up for debate.

I'm not an ultra-veteran myself, but I would not consider Iceborne complete if Alatreon and Fatalis were neglected. The endgame systems in place are all meant to build into those two final challenges, after all!

They're ballbusters for sure, but very satisfying to overcome. (at least, in my mind. Opinions vary!)

Watching further into the video and hearing the words "Let's give Teostra a break..." got the grandest JJJ tier belly laugh out of me good lordy, good one dear 'tuber...

In my opinion wilds is a little boring it's fun but not as fun as world but it's funni love this franchise to hell
