I love hearing them talk about how they feel about their children. it just makes me feel so warm

I literally laughed when he said that Jessie wanted him to wear a hat and sunglasses like that would disguise the 6foot 7 man with that much hair and beard.

truly can't imagine having parents who have this level of emotional intelligence and awareness

link sounds so wise when speaking about being a parent, I bet he's a great father.

He will forever be that little cherubic boy that cried over the Tarheels or Wolfpack to me. 🥹

I had a similar family type as Rhett did. Not many things were loudly celebrated, but not because of lack of love. We're all just quiet for different reasons. Didn't stop big gatherings from getting wild!

I get Rhetts point about not showing emotion outwards as a family, when I left home there was no moment or big goodbye, just a "right, see you when I see you"

i grew up with a very emotionally absent father. i cant even begin to describe how weepy this episode made me. im very excited for you guys to get to watch your children grow out on their own and see what they can become. i just recently moved many states away from all of my family, and you never forget a bond like this. (and as an aside, ive been watching gmm since i was 10 or 11 - over a decade now. i cant believe how quickly the kids have grown up, and how much you two have grown as well.)

It’s interesting hearing this from a parents perspective considering that I just moved into college myself

It is so cool to let yourself have emotional moments with your children (like that song in a car moment 40:01 ).
ESPECIALLY when it’s a father and his sons because many men’s emotions are being repressed.
I really appreciate Rhett sharing this private experience with us.

As a mom of a kid who went to NYC for undergrad (we live in California), I felt this. She is now in law school but still in New York. I miss her everyday but I’m so proud of her.

I think I was weepy up until dropping my kid off. On that day, I definitely wanted to be happy and confident for her so there was no crying.

I feel like next time people try to sneakily record you, you should do that "I'm watching you" thing to the camera where you point to your eyes with two fingers and point at the lens. It can be as aggressive or sneaky as you want but then you don't have to break the silence in the elevator 😅

As someone who is close in age to your kids and a long-time viewer, it's great hearing you both talk about the effort you put into maintaining a good relationship with them. My relationship with my parents isn't great, so it's nice to see

This is so bittersweet. I remember they were really small kids and I was like 14 or 15 and thought “woah I’m gonna graduate soon!” Then I graduated, and a few years later they were little kids to maybe 12 max, and I’d say “man they’re gonna be graduating soon!” Then I became in my mid twenties and they all became teens and preteens. Now I’m 27 and both Rhett and links oldest are in college. So crazy.

14:11 As someone who attended college in Florida... be sure that your son comes home for Christmas. There is nothing more depressing than the FL version of Christmas if you're flying solo. And the best thing to do at the end of the year, put all of his crap into a storage unit so that you don't have to worry about hauling it around.

Decades ago, mom and sad dropped me off at Morrison Dorm in Chapel Hill. We met my roommate and his parents. My dad snuck out to look at the "new" Dean E. Smith Stadium (The Dean Dome) from my sixth floor balcony. I left my room to find my dad to ask him to be extra attentive to mom because I knew she was going to be extra emotional since I was the last kid leaving the nest. I found him looking out into the horizon sobbing uncontrollably. That was QUITE the moment for 18-year-old me.
