it’s a lovely car and the subtle gold wheels are ❤, very tasteful. On the passenger seat belt buckle if you lift it up to the b pillar mounting it stays there without rattling
Like the painted sport's classics, there are so many Porsches with them but probably the least favourable imo, but painting them transforms them, so good on you. I had a BB 981 S and fitted a ducktail spoiler if you want some pics?
Nice video. These are fabulous cars. I have a 981 2.7 in met black with 20” turbo alloys. Looks really nice. I’m smitten with mine as my daily driver (and I also have a met grey 997 turbo 1.5, which I have had for 5 years now). Won’t be getting rid of my Cayman any time soon. My 4th Porsche now.
Finally, some incredibly balanced advice on used car options and what to look out for. Thinking of another cayman you tuber, Joe, ( as in Joe Talks Cars) who has had to grapple with bore score issues which can be avoided with a good inspection before purchasing as you clearly did. Hats of to you, myself intend to get a bit carried away with the whole porsche thing
Just come across this, and it’s very interesting for me, as like you I wanted to buy a sports car 1 year ago. I narrowed it down to a cayman or a V6 Ftype ~ they are very similar cars. In the end I bought the Ftype because I thought it was much better value. A 2019 coupé V6 340 loaded with extras ~ pano roof, modern 10inch infotainment with AppleCarPlay, leather interior, deviated stitching, 12 way memory seats with lumbar adjustment, carbon exterior trim, AEB, lane assist, independent heater temp controls, memory parking mirrors with blind spot and overtaking, etc, etc. 4 years old, one owner, 9,000 miles, for £39,000. The Porsche is expensive when compared. I’m very pleased with mine, and you are very pleased with yous. It’s great we are all different, and they are both great cars.
Great detailed video. I love my base 981 2.7. It doesn’t have the sport chrono but still has launch control via the sport button with traction off. I believe if you have the sports chrono it adds more power something like 15 hp. Also as I track my Cay occasionally it has more lateral cornering ability but is 1 sec slower over the 1/4 mile Fastest laps. Com confirms this with 1.06 lateral g’s. The S has 1.04 and the GT4 has 1.01. It may be because the higher models have higher speed hence less g’s possible not sure why
Great video. Exactly how i feel about my 981 too. I was lucky to have it almost fully optioned, though it took a year to find. In fact our spec’s are very similar. Wheels look great 👍
Gorgeous! Outstanding 2-stage/ceramic detail results and love the rear-light tinting - going to have to do both with mine I think, being lucky enough to know a very skilled detailer. Did you get a refresher package with the coating? I had Modesta BC-08 put on a 2003 S2000, and part of each hand-washing included a 10-15 minute "refresh". A bit or work, but its a weekender and its long between washes, but caring for the finish as I have (kids grown, I have some time) it still looks incredible today, almost 5 years later (actually hoping to sell it today - bitter-sweet emotions). I have never been 100% dedicated to a car or brand either (though I have had 4 Audis in a row over 23 years), but I can see the Cayman being a car worthy of that level of praise and adoration - it's simply that good. Was looking at Evora and others you've had or mentioned - even Ferrari 430 - but if I drive this one for 5 or more years, I know I will love it like I do today - even though I expect it to affect my bank balance more than any car I have owned. 2 weeks into ownership and I too am already thinking of a higher level Cayman. It like a "gateway drug". Once you realize how good it can be, you want more and better! Have I started down the road of addiction? I am definitely hooked so far. Wisest words of the video on this near-perfect sports car: "Enjoy it for what it is now". - Amen
Throughly enjoyed this video! Very informative and perfect for anyone considering getting a cayman. The car is gorgeous and very well speced but surely colour is a massive compromise?? If I'm honest i prefered the wheels before repainting but that is a personal choice. Would be great for another update sometime. Ps love the pelagos too!
Everything you say about your car, I think about my 981 S as well. I may even do my wheels the same as yours or try to get some gt4/gt3 wheels to go on it. Did just order a ducktail but it will need to be sprayed the Agate Grey of the car. I did replace my rear lights with GTS ones which I really thought looked much better but your tinting makes yours look great as well. Cheers Scott.
