Leofoto WN-03 Window Mount – Videoing Wildlife from a Vehicle.

Finding a good window mount for filming wildlife from a safari vehicle isn't as easy as it sounds. We needed something that was stable, versatile and quick to use, while still allowing us to follow moving animals with a long telephoto lens.

We decided to try the Leofoto WN-03 (https://landscapegear.co.za/products/...) window mount, supplied by Landscape Gear in South Africa, together with a Leofoto BV-15 video head.

Our initial tests were very encouraging, filming sheep from our Pajero Sport. But the real test came when we spent several days in Mokala National Park near Kimberley in South Africa.

Using a Sony A7V with the Sony 200-600mm lens, mounted on the WN-03 and BV-15 video head, we filmed a wide range of wildlife, including Cape buffalo, tsessebe, zebra, giraffe, wildebeest and other African species.

In this video we show the setup, explain how we used the window mount from the vehicle and, most importantly, show some of the wildlife footage we were able to capture.

For wildlife photographers and videographers working from vehicles, a stable window mount can make a huge difference – particularly when using a long telephoto lens.

Equipment used:
Sony A7V
Sony 200-600mm G lens
Leofoto WN-03 window mount
Leofoto BV-15 video head
Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

The WN-03 was supplied by Landscape Gear South Africa.

If you're interested in wildlife photography, wildlife video, safari photography or filming from a vehicle, we hope our real-world experience will be useful.
