Is Hell an eternal pit of fire, or a metaphor for a divine warning? İhsan Eliaçık explains with evidence that shatters taboos.

Theologian and researcher-writer İhsan Eliaçık, on Kürsü TV, examines the most critical eschatological issue debated for centuries in Islamic thought: Is Hell truly a physical place, or a spiritual state constructed by human wickedness?

Eliaçık, examining the etymological origins of the 7 different descriptions of Hell mentioned in the Quran (Nar, Cahim, Sair, Sakar, Hutame, Leza, Haviye), analyzes the process extending from the Hebrew "Gehinnom" valley to the present-day perception. He criticizes the "physical resurrection" debate that led Imam al-Ghazali to declare Islamic philosophers like al-Farabi and Ibn Sina as infidels in his work Tahafut al-Falasifa; Musa Jarullah presents the rational approaches offered by the schools of thought of Sheikh Badruddin and Ibn Rushd.

Will people be judged by their beliefs and identity labels, or by their actions (praxis/deeds)? Discover the true place of the scales of justice and conscience in the belief in hell, centered around Surah Al-Mulk, in this publication.
