Since its founding in 1957, Sekisui Kinzoku Co., Ltd. / KATO has consistently maintained in-house manufacturing at its own factories in Japan.
Its level of in-house production is regarded as among the highest in the industry. From molds to even the smallest components such as wheels and motors, each part is carefully manufactured internally with great attention to detail.

In 1965, KATO released Japan’s first mass-produced N scale model, establishing its image as a true pioneer of N scale railway models.
