Have you ever wondered how we came to be, or what truly makes us human?

From Charles Darwin to the present day, the theory of evolution has forever changed how we understand life on Earth. But what is evolution, after all? And what does natural selection actually say? Why doesn't it mean "survival of the fittest," but rather "survival of the most adapted"?

From the origin of life to the great mass extinctions, the planet holds fascinating records of how species arose, dominated, and disappeared.

From dinosaurs to megafauna, from "missing links" to human species that existed before us, each discovery reveals more about nature's "experiments" and our own origins.

But evolution didn't stop in the past: it also explains the present. Why do we have certain emotions? Are we naturally monogamous, or is that a cultural imposition?

To what extent does free will exist, or are our decisions actually determined by biological processes shaped over millions of years?

And the future? Is evolution still underway? Could artificial intelligence impact our own biology? And will science one day conquer aging and death?

To answer these and many other questions, we invited Dr. Alberto Lindner, biologist, Master in Zoology from USP and PhD in Biology from Duke University, for episode 313 of the podcast Os Sócios.

We will talk about Darwin and the theory of evolution, extinctions and extinct species, human ancestors, behavioral biology, and much more. Hosts: Bruno Perini @bruno_perini and Malu Perini @maluperini
Guest: Alberto Lindner @betolindner
