Finally a break in the weather, and my first Dead Bait session of 2026! Reports say the Pike fishing has been tough on the wild reservoir, but I found a spot that produced multiple takes!

wobbles on a floating matt of weed… 😂

The dropped runs are because the bait elastic is stopping the top hook from pulling out the mackerel & into the pikes mouth, if you have to use bait elastic use it on the bottom treble at the tail you will see your hookups increasing mate🎣.

I use semi barbless size 6 mackerel tough enough not to use bait elastic hook hold is good . Easy to unhook 😊 I don’t wade in to the water to much noise and bank sticks on the bank 😊

An interesting video with some good useful tips. Unfortunately the fishing wasn't up to much. I'm afraid that you haven't managed to convince me of the need to wade out into the water, it seems to me to be utterly pointless. In all of my 75+ years of fishing I've never come across a situation where I've needed to do it. I'd imagine that the weed on your dead bait got there as you wound it in. Good luck and get some sharper hooks.
