I have made some changes to the video description based on useful comments.
1. Added a link for "New Recruit" another recommended army builder
2. Mentioned the Necromunda dice set which contains useful dice for 2nd edition 40k
3. And added a link to Baron of dice which sells sustained fire and artillery dice

2nd edition, the edition that came 2nd.

The styrofoam and toothpick spike balls hit me right in the nostalgia feels.

I know 40k is more popular than ever before now but I still think 2nd and 3rd editions were best!

I really appreciate videos like these. GW doesn’t care about 40K’s history, but fans do.

2nd edition Warhammer is always be a good classic

2nd is how I started.  On holiday with the family in Scotland, saw the box in a small shop, and got it.  Probably had to convince my dad to cover some of the cost...

If this whole channel isn’t enough of an advertisement, this video ought to do the trick. Seriously though, your passion for this edition is palpable. It makes each video such a blast, besides your painting, it just feels so genuine

Wonders never cease. Matthew from Miniscape uploaded another awesome video, this day is truly blessed

Rogue Trader was very clunky at the start but improved with the Battle Manual and Vehicle Manual.  2nd Ed streamlined those rules to a good mix of ease-of-play while also keeping enough detail to be interesting.  I felt 3rd ed onwards started to go a bit far with the simplifying, although that was better for bigger games.  I think I finally gave up on 40k around 7th or 8th.

All the videos on 2nd ed have brought back the nostalgia.  People like yourself, Minisodes, and Crown of Command have got me cobbling together a wee Space Marine army using the stuff I dug out of old boxes.  A good painting project for the year.  Also just ordered a bag of assorted size polystyrene balls and some cocktail sticks for the obligatory cacti of spikiness.

I want to see the dark angel paint scheme video ! ❤

I love 2nd edition Eldar, where they still hade that John Blanche hairmetal inscrutable cannibalistic freak vibe instead of the more tame high elf vibe they’ve got now

Fortunately I've still got almost all my original RT, 2nd, 3rd & 4th rulebooks, codices, gear cards, psychic power cards and etc.

Goblin Green bases.

Start a petition to have GW do a made to order 2nd Edition box set. Id order 5.

Thanks for the shout-out! Always glad to see my material being of use in the hobby.

2nd edition!

And everyone over complicates Artillery dice mapped onto a D6. A 6 should be misfire, the other results get doubled to give you 2-10.

As someone who hopped on the oldhammer train due to your series of painting vids, i really appreciate this video. Lots of useful links mate. Ive had an amazing time painting up tons of 2nd edition orks and gretchen, as well as some marines.

In 2nd Ed we used to show up with onions tied to our belts.

Thank you so much for giving all the useful and helpful tips to play second edition Warhammer 40K. Currently my little brother and I are trying to figure out the rule set based out of the original box for Warhammer 40K and then moving on to dark millennium with the codexes in a little bit of time. Our eldest brothers still recalls rules from second edition while playing 10th edition and it's getting his mind scrambled for some reason so we're trying to just go off a second edition rules next time we play him.

We have moved onto dark millennium and had to print out some templates we were missing like the feet of gork and mork
