I'm 58. My response to people who think I'm too old to get a new job: Think about this: a 60 year old female and an 80 year old man were the candidates for the last presidential election. If people at those ages could be hired for the position of leader of the free world, why shouldn't I be hired for a lousy customer service job??? Or anything else for that matter???🤔

I wish people would stop calling it ageism and call it for what it is. Age Discrimintion. I know it's the same thing, but Ageism sounds better than Age Discrimination. My point is that companies Discriminate.

I'm 58, had a car accident 3 years ago that took 2 years of recovery, I haven't been able to find employment I believe due to my age. I started a charcuterie business and following my own path, couldn't be happier. Age discrimination is horrible though!

What I hear employers say is younger employees won't work. Won't show up. Are late and unreliable. BUT!!!! They would rather have these people than an older worker that is ready to go and has experience, skills, maturity, and show up on time??!!! I just don't get it!!?? I thought companies wanted the best and the brightest? They aren't always in their 20's !!!!!

Senior caregiving in private homes is protection against ageism. I just turned 71 and clients love me. They appreciate an older compassionate woman like me because I can relate to them. I do light duty only. $25 per hour.

I'm 62 and recently had a call from a sandwich shop where I briefly worked a couple years ago. They were desperate for a good reliable sane person. Over 30 hours a week between 8:30 and 4, so I never have to drive in the dark (rainy west coast).The pay and tips are good and I get to be around people without having the drama of personal relationships, and weekdays only :)
It's about attitude and common sense.

They DISCRIMINATE, All The FUK’NG Time. More than what people realize. Shitty people have control and they lead by personal dislike. If you’re not willing to allow them to degrade and disrespect, you have no job. Sad but True!
