I found a $5 Casio toy keyboard at a thrift store and completely reimagined it into a custom walnut and steel instrument. I rebuilt the cheap plastic body with handcrafted wood side panels, laser cut steel faceplates, glowing vacuum tube preamps, and built-in guitar effects like EQ, delay, chorus, and reverb. Every detail was fabricated in my shop, from precision panels to speaker grills, even custom screen-printed labels. The result is a one-of-a-kind playable showpiece that transforms both the design and the sound of the original Casio keyboard, lo-fi grit meets high-end art. If you’re into woodworking, metalworking, synthesizers, DIY instruments, or creative builds that merge music and design, this project shows how far you can push a simple toy with the right tools and imagination.

Its also a great little portable tool for singers
1) Upped the quality of the speakers. There are nice, two-way speakers with much greater dynamic range, that would have fit in there
2) Made a small patch panel so you could re-arrange the effects/processing chain.
I felt that.
Not only did I do that in the kitchen, I also fucked up a mold for half a gallon epoxy resin which then outflew onto the floor of my living room, which I - in a light panic- mopped up with bare hands and an old t-shirt.
Fun times
