I really like the look of the dog from NH.   Currently living in the desert Southwest, but one can always dream.

a lot of these breeds are rare even in their own countries

I very nearly bought a Canaani from the original Israeli kennel that developed them from the desert pariah dogs that they'd been forever. We ultimately decided we couldn't both afford her and afford to ship her home, all in one week of vacation, but she was a lovely pup and touring the kennel was amazing.

They were bred for the Israeli army, when it needed a patrol dog who would be low key but alert. The lady who bred the Canaani found the foundation stock from among the dogs who followed the Bedouin caravans -- not really belonging to the Bedouins, but tolerated by them and occasionally fed by them because they guarded the livestock. Great dogs.

I applaud that you are willing to still use your talents to help others. It is a great idea. I've been asking GOD for some new direction in my life as
a retired horse trainer, lessons, clinics, coaching,etc.. Years ago I had a Norwegian Elkound. We showed her a bit. She had the most beautiful mask. I think I could really like the "puffin dog" at my age. Love that you are staying active with limits. My days of coaching in triple heat are gone. Good luck and I look forward to more on YT.

When we met, my husband thought that his spitz/Shetland Sheepdog was a Canaan Dog. I think that he may have been Finnish Spitz/Shetland Sheepdog.

Algeria is NORTHERN Africa, not West Africa.

If I'm not mistaken, the Harrier is on the endangered breed list.

I live in East Texas! Where are you located?

Please please do not get a belgian X unless you really know what you are doing -they are gorgeous working dogs but they are not easy dogs
