I've been driving my Delica D:5 for almost nine years now. The mileage has exceeded 245,000 km.
With the new Pajero now available and the Delica D:5 evolving, Mitsubishi's SUVs and 4WDs are once again attracting attention.
That's why, this time, I'd like to talk about the "true merits of the Delica D:5" that you can't find in the spec sheet.
I've always been a fan of sports cars and rally cars, and I used to think, "Minivans? No way..."
But I was looking for a car that could comfortably fit my family of five and safely tow a camping trailer, and that's how I found the Delica D:5.
It's been about nine years since then.
Family trips, overnight stays in the car, towing a camping trailer, working with a food truck, running RV Park Kanuma... and even the experience of driving home with my family on rough roads after the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
I certainly haven't treated my Delica gently.
Even so, now that it's exceeded 240,000 km, I don't really feel the need to buy a new car.
The early models have their own merits, and the mid- and late-models have their own distinct advantages. Just because a newer model is released doesn't mean the older Delica suddenly loses its appeal.
And it's not just about being able to drive on rough roads; it's about being able to carry family, luggage, work, tow a trailer, and still return home safely.
For me, that's the essential appeal of the Delica D:5.
This time, I'll talk about "Why the Delica D:5?" – something I can only discuss after actually using one for over 240,000 km.
I hope this will be helpful for those considering a used Delica (early, mid, or late model).
Also, on October 24th and 25th, we'll be holding the "Vamorogu Field Channel Meetup" at RV Park Kanuma!
There are only a few accommodation sites left, but daytime participation is welcome for the daytime get-together. We'll also have a food truck open, so let's talk about Delicas and campervans while enjoying some coffee!
