Funny story. I was to box at the West Dallas Boys Club or YMCA that was on the corner of Singleton and Westmoreland. I was from Oak Cliff but my aunt kept me in the summer when she stayed in the projects off Pointer street. I remember she wanted to keep me active during the summer so I wouldn't work her nerve. She ask me if I wanted to play basketball , baseball or some other activity. There was a guy who had boxing classes. I told her I wanted to box. Man I was doing good. The instructor said I was quick but needed work. One day after seeing a Sugar Ray Leonard fight and watching Penitentiary with Leon the Lover. I came back the following week to try what I saw. Trying to  showboat and dude hit me so hard I saw DOTS.  I told my aunt afterwards. I wanna paly football 🤣🤣🏈
