A man lost his left hand in one of the most famous naval battles in history, spent five years chained as a slave on the coast of Africa, and experienced poverty, prison, and the oblivion of his homeland. Yet, from a suffocating cell, he created one of the greatest literary masterpieces of all time. This is the extraordinary story of Miguel de Cervantes, the soldier, the slave, the imprisoned tax collector who became, almost without realizing it, the father of the modern novel.
In this documentary, we retrace the entire life of the great Spanish writer, from his birth in Alcalá de Henares into a family of ancient nobility but profound poverty, until his death in 1616. Through ten chapters, we follow the thread of a life marked by the harshest trials and illuminated by a nobility of spirit that never wavered. His youth, hungry for books, and his first poetic success, his stay in Rome at the heart of the Renaissance, his choice of arms in the name of an ideal, the wound of Lepanto, the long years of imprisonment and their failed escapes, his return to an indifferent homeland, the thankless years of his profession as a tax collector, and finally the birth of his immortal knight-errant, conceived in the depths of a prison.
A tale that intertwines the history of sixteenth-century Spain, the era of the Inquisition and the purity of blood, with an intimate portrait of a man too honest and too idealistic for his time. A journey into the genesis of a work that has spanned the centuries, capable of uniting laughter and melancholy, madness and wisdom, and which still speaks to the hearts of countless readers around the world.

Grazie mille.
Poi c'è tutta quella prosa naturale kitsch e mille accenti sbagliati.
No grazie.
