My parents cooked a special meal for me for my birthday after work, and I walked my dog twice on that day. It was a school day, so I spent my birthday with the high school kids that I teach, since I am a school teacher here. I couldn't have asked for more.

I might have similar feelings about birthdays. When I entered my teens, my view of birthdays quickly changed. Celebrations felt joyless and fake. Like I had lost the connection I once had with my family and friends. Ever since I became an adult, I have never celebrated my birthday. I don't find it to be of any importance and having people fuss over me just makes me feel uncomfortable. I really don't like being treated like a princess... 👸😜
People in Sweden who DO celebrate their birthdays tend to celebrate with cake. Princess cake is probably the most common. It is, after all, Sweden's contribution to the world of cakes. If you are into loads of whipped cream and marzipan, then you will love it!
I turned 49 in August, and I'm still trying to understand what happened to the past 15 years. Time goes by so fast now...😵💫
For next year, I have actually been thinking about making plans for once. Waking up in Japan on my birthday would be a fantastic way to start my journey into my 50s. Fingers crossed that I will get to have that experience... 🛬🗾🤞
