FROLLO: "Choose me, or the fire."
Literally EVERY girl who has reacted to this movie said they'd choose the fire.

24:24 I've heard an interpretation that the man informing Frollo is not one of his men, but an angel or even God Himself, giving Frollo one last chance to just leave Esmeralda be and go on with his own life. And of course, men like Frollo, who can't see the sin within, will ignore that opportunity of salvation

I love that it was a gargoyle that took out Frollo because gargoyles, on top of being decorative gutters, are meant to ward off evil spirits. It did its job.

Hellfire is one of the best villain songs, not just in Disney, but in all media. You see him grappling his darkest impulses while trying to maintain his facade of righteousness. That key moment, when he asks for anything to cast aside these thoughts, a messenger arrives. However, instead of accepting his chance to let go of his obsession with Esmeralda, his orders for efforts to find her be increased.
There's nothing more dangerous than a villain who uses "righteousness" as a justification for their cruelty.

Dark Fact: Despite Frollo constantly bragging about being a " Righteous Man Of God,  when he sings " Hellfire", he shows that he is guilty of some form of all Seven Deadly Sins

Best line of the movie for me: “I thought we all were children of God”.

Greatest Disney Villain. People like him walk among us every day.

R.I.P. David Ogden Stiers and Tony Jay The Archdeacon and Judge Frollo are now in Heaven 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Love the philosophy of what makes a monster and what makes a man.  Frolo was the monster the entire time.  Same theme in "beauty and the beast "

This is easily the most underrated of the Disney Renaissance films. I like when family/children's media doesn't treat children like idiots and is willing to deal with heavy and dark subject matter. Racism, corruption in The Church, hypocrisy, etc...another stellar reaction from you April. I hope you're having a great week.

It wasn't just a slip up, Frollo makes him say the alphabet to see what's on Quasi's mind :( You can imagine how he does this every day or week and making Quasi go down the line of letters will cause him to 'slip up'.
It's both manipulative and cruel, with the words being taught to keep Quasimodo in line and fearful.

I watched this movie, I think a couple years ago and I absolutely loved it! I don’t know why people don’t watch or react to this movie very often! It’s extremely underrated!

Also, I always call this: The boy version of tangled! Both of them were kept in a building their whole life and they just want to go out and explore the world, and live  life!

One slight detail a lot of people missed is Quasimodo's carpentry skills. Everyone that he carved and painted were detailed and perfect while Quasimodo's own isn't, which means he never thought highly of himself while he thought highly of others despite the fact they humiliated him and were horrible to him.

And it's more amazing how all his life, he was abused and dehumanised, yet, he still thought highly of everyone.

The “SANCTUARY!!” scene gives me chills every time!!!!

This movie is such a masterpiece.

"Can you imagine this view?"  Yes.  Yes I absolutely can.  My father and I went to the top of the south tower.

The Hunchback of Notre Dame has been my favourite Disney film since I was 4. There's just so much to love. The beautiful animation. Alan Menken's best ever score. Disney's most angelic protagonist. Disney's most monstrous villain. There's just so much to love

24:27 this is the best part of Hellfire, because THIS is when Frollo damned himself. The room is bathed in RED, before the soldier enters to inform Frollo of Esmeralda’s escape. When the soldier does enter, the room is bathed in soft blue light. And when Frollo rejects the soldier and claims he’d burn down all of Paris, he CHOOSES the path of wickedness and pride. God gave him a chance to repent and let go of Esmeralda, and he turned his back and chose his damnation. The visual cues are phenomenal, Disney really cooked with this film. Frollo is probably the most evil of Disney’s villains, not because he’s an evil person, but because he can be real. There are Frollos in this world, people in places of power who use that power for their own gain and whims. He’s terrifying because he’s realistic.

21:13 Disney's best villain song. That's what!

What I would mention here is Hellfire. That Song is at no. 1 on almost every Rank list of Villain Songs that I saw on the Internet. When I've been thinking Be Prepared from Scar in the lion King is no. 1, but I can see why hellfire is, that song is A Lot.
