As dirty as "tape the door" was, I think there's a reason they haven't done a punishment since that actually gave a disadvantage in the service itself.

Tiffany's excuse was that it was a kid's night, and she didn't care what kids thought of her food. Yeah. The context doesn't help. Try serving a kid a burnt pizza. See what happens.

Michael actually inspired Gordon to implement sabotages, to see if they're actually attentive enough

I mean, all's fair in competetion. Testing your opponent is the spirit of it, so in my opinion, the last guy didn't do anything wrong. A person needs to be responsible for what they do, if the checking guy had caught it, then it would have backfired for our "cheater" but well. To each their own I guess. Fire vid as usual btw, Yani.🔥🔥🔥🔥

To be fair, the only reason Gordon and his sous chefs test competitors via sabotage on the line is because of Michael.  Not only was Season 1 obviously first, but it also lacked some things future seasons would have, such as the sabotage but also Gordon overruling nominations for elimination.  Michael may have been a snake during the competition, but he was a brilliant snake and he’s awesome for it.

Michael didn't cheat. Him tripping up his rival was as ethical as it could get there.
1. It was during a practice service, not the actual finale itself. So Ralph was only embarrassed, not losing point for the competition.
2. Michael warned the sous chef before sending up the risotto, so he did not go behind Gordon's back.

4:56 that is a healthy violation just waiting to happen

Yep.  I would describe my job like Hell's Kitchen.  Everyone is supposed to be on a time, but they are all out for themselves.
