Thanks for the reaction and the plug.  Very fun to watch.
I'm sitting pretty at 316 right now.  They'll all be getting notifications thick and fast (in half a decade or so). 😉

Shoutout to the old ones that remembers watching these shows on Jetix…

Tbf... The lore of Digimon is that they are the result of data in our internet that accumulated and gained sentience. Which is why there's ones based off mythological figures including gods, angels, demons, etc.

Which means the fact that they based one off of one of the creators makes sense.

"I thought they were going to equip items to make themselves bigger, full on Gundam digimon." Someone was not prepared for HOW immediately that joke was gonna pay off.
Glad I had the enjoyment of seeing that ahead of time.
(fast forward) I had forgotten about this show... I would like to again. "I just managed to forget this show." Glad we're on the same wavelength.

Thanks to the last few collabs, we can technically add every Medabot, Godzilla kaiju, and Monster Hunter... monster to the digimon list.

2:40 actually, his avatar is another digimon, Wisemon

Arier, Data Squad not only has an MC who actually fights Digimon, but it also introduced anime watchers to the bits of greater lore. Such as the “Host Computer” of the digital world Yggdrasil. (Or Drasil in the dub.)

an interesting fan theory is that the "mon" part of every digimon's name is like a .exe. since digimon are data they are like large files.  if you look up a digimon their weight is usually measured by gigabytes. and because data is always expanding the different kinds/types/variants of digimon are as well.

Man's gonna go nuts if he tries to count now that digimon is making crossover with medabots, monster hunter and godzilla xd

actuly the  hooded mage is digimon called wisemon

To put in perspective, in Xros Wars, digimon were simultaneously Biological and Digital. They were beings created of digital code, but had biological needs and urges, as well as biological “capabilities”..

Kuwagamon to Kuwagamon X-Antibody is basically that one joke In DBZA when Krillin got the powerup from Super Kami Guru.

2:47 To clarify Deep Dive portrays himself as a Wisemon, a wizard Digimon that as the name is play on, a wise man archetype
9:08 There’s also the one up from Volcanomon with PileVolcamon, which is also based on Ota. But aside from that, another Digimon based on related staff would be in fact Volcanomon’s rival, Etemon, who is based on DigiMonkey, a character in the weekly Shonen Jump, who would promote Digimon around Japan enthusiastically whist in a monkey costume. And yes, I do recommend you see the gold that is the music battle between them when they were one off villains in the reboot, in both sub and dub, and yes Ota did voice Volcanomon in the JP dub.
21:32 The picture was likely referring to the very big Solarmon in the middle
22:42 I do recommend both, as they were up there for Digimon games, heck there’s the complete edition, which has both, as they ran concurrently to each others’ events, just that you play a different MC
23:20 Oh right, this the time all the Royal Knights and Seven Great Demon Lords got their X antibody forms, and yes the latter is based in concept of the Seven Sins.
23:29 Funny that he shows Sistermon Ciel here, as she is in fact the censored international stand in for Noir, since Cyber Sleuth. Since as you can surmise by the names, the Sistermons are based on nuns and with Noir being dressed in black, you have yourself a nun with guns, hence the need for a stand in that wasn’t walking on eggshells. Though she is still a separate Digimon, as she is Noir’s twin, and jointly being the older sister to Blanc.
26:12 Oh look, Omedamon, who is the April fools collab with Medarots(internationally Medabots), and yes Medarot did in turn create designs based on Digimon, which was initially Wargrey, Metalgaruru, and Omega, but has now since expanded with the recent event in the Medarot mobile game
33:15 Again the count has well ballooned since then, as this was before Ghost Game, and the Vital Brace projects.

A thing to remember is that this video was from 4 years ago, so that number has ballooned since. Especially so recently, as Digimon has gone through a resurgence thanks to the new TCG and other media projects, though it’s definitely the TCG.
As after Ghost Game ended, some notable projects of note were the relatively recently finished Seekers web novel, the recent Digimon Comic, and most recently cross franchise collabs, such as the recent ones with Monster Hunter and Godzilla, though the most work has been from the TCG, introducing players to past works with Easter eggs built into the cards’, and then there’s the Liberator Webcomic and Webnovel tied to it. With those last 2 being where most of the woodwork for new entries have come from, more new Digimon and even creating new lines for existing Digimon, case in point the new Guilmon and metal music inspired line for Impmon.

8:14 Oh, absolutely. Digimon has been steadily going along since it first came out.
If you want my opinion, Digimon Ghost Game has a nice Horror-themed take on the various cuddly creatures in a mostly episodic format. The only downside is that it eventually remembers that there's a plot and suffers for it.

Since this video is now 4 years out of date, I'd like to note that there's now even more Digimon, from new anime like Ghost Game and  the Adventure 02 sequel movie, new X-Antibody Digimon, and now brand new crossover V-Pet exclusive Digimon like for Monster Hunter and Godzilla!

The digital grind never ends.

Considering this was made 4 years ago, very likely that the number has increased, by a decent number

The Super Sentai connection could be real as there are v-pets with Kamen Riders and Ultraman. Also Monster Hunter, Medarot, and Godzilla crossovers

believe it or not the thrid movie is actually pretty decent if you watch the uncut version, in total 40 minutes were cut from all three movies

Hackers Memory is the second Cyber Sleuth game. Both are available together on the Complete Edition. Both are actually a sequels to several games so some characters aren’t explained but it doesn’t impact the story much.
