1860 Munich were German champions before Bayern Munich had won a single Bundesliga title. They reached a European final, twice beat Bayern during a remarkable 1999–2000 season and came within one qualifying round of the Champions League. Today, they are back in Germany's fourth tier.
This football documentary tells the extraordinary story of TSV 1860 Munich, from their Bundesliga triumph and rivalry with Bayern to the rise under Karl-Heinz Wildmoser and Werner Lorant, the move to the Allianz Arena, financial crisis, Hasan Ismaik's investment and the dramatic collapse of 2017.
After rebuilding at the Grünwalder Stadion, 1860 spent eight seasons trying to escape the 3. Liga before another failed licence application sent them back into the Regionalliga Bayern in 2026.
Featuring the 1966 Bundesliga champions, the 1965 European Cup Winners' Cup final, the Munich derby, Martin Max, Thomas Häßler, Paul Agostino, the Allianz Arena, Hasan Ismaik and one of the most turbulent stories in German football.
