Does your budgie actually miss you when you leave the house? 🐦💚
Budgies are highly social birds, and they can notice when familiar companions disappear and return. In this video, we look at 7 signs that your budgie may notice your absence, from contact calling and changes in behaviour to getting excited when you finally come home.
Of course, we cannot know exactly what a budgie is thinking or whether they experience “missing someone” exactly like humans do. But research into budgie contact calls, social relationships and vocal learning gives us some fascinating clues about just how important their social connections can be.

These studies do not prove that budgies experience missing a person exactly as humans do. They help us understand budgie social communication, contact calls, vocal learning and how their calls can be influenced by social relationships.
If your budgie does something completely different when you leave or when you come home, tell me about it in the comments. I’d love to hear what your bird does.
