Six people were murdered across Phoenix and Scottsdale in just four days in 2018. The killings targeted a forensic psychiatrist, two paralegals, a counselor, and an elderly couple—until investigators uncovered a shocking grudge that had been building for nearly a decade.

In this true crime documentary, we take a detailed look at the 2018 Phoenix-area shooting spree that left six people dead and terrified an entire community. What initially appeared to be a series of unrelated murders slowly revealed a connection stretching back years.

The first victim was Steven Pitt, a respected forensic psychiatrist known for working on some of America's most high-profile criminal cases. He was shot outside his Phoenix office on May 31, 2018. Within 24 hours, two paralegals, Veleria Sharp and Laura Anderson, were murdered at a Scottsdale family law firm. Investigators soon discovered that the same weapon had been used in both attacks.

Then another victim was discovered.

Marshall Levine, a 72-year-old counselor, was found dead inside his office. What initially appeared to be a possible suicide quickly became another homicide when investigators discovered the same unusual ammunition used in the previous shootings. Four victims had now been killed with the same gun.

The investigation eventually uncovered a connection to Connie Jones and a bitter divorce that had begun years earlier. According to the story and court records discussed in the documentary, Connie had described years of threats, intimidation and fear involving her former husband, Dwight Jones. Steven Pitt had evaluated Dwight. Karen Kolbe had worked with Connie's son. Elizabeth Feldman had represented Connie during the divorce.

As detectives struggled to identify the killer, a former police detective named Rick Anglin recognized the connection. His tip led investigators toward Dwight Jones, a man who had spent years living in an extended-stay hotel while the people he blamed continued their lives under security. Investigators eventually connected him to the shootings through surveillance, evidence and DNA recovered from a shell casing.

But the case was not over.

Two more victims, Mary Simmons and Bryon Thomas, were discovered dead inside their Fountain Hills home. Their connection to Dwight Jones remains one of the most disturbing unanswered questions in the case. Police ultimately surrounded the hotel where Jones was staying. When officers moved in, Jones opened fire before taking his own life.

Six people were gone.

There would be no trial. No courtroom testimony from the accused. No jury verdict. And many questions about the motive for the final killings would remain unanswered.

This documentary remembers the six victims as people—not statistics—and examines the years of threats, the investigation, the evidence, and the unanswered questions left behind.
