If you have a common yard like this guy that electric is probably a pretty good deal. But if you got a bigger yard like me, you gotta use gas more than likely

Thank you for the video.  My son can only use his right hand (CP) so I was glad to see he can use this mower with only one hand.    My wife loves that the gas Honda kind of leads her along when mowing.  I almost ashamed to admit that I sold my 8 year-old HRX217 last night and am debating whether or not I want this Honda electric mower.

I had a battery powered mower for a couple of years. One year, I had a lot of travel and my yard grew quite a bit on me. With the high grass, it was taxing my battery and I only got about half way thru my yard with two batteries. That afternoon I bought the cheapest used gas mower I could find on OfferUp and never went back. That reason alone causes me to be hesitant to consider a battery powered mower ever again.

Would love to see how it performs with the bag on & on grass that's a little wet. We've all been there.

Interesting and informative. Appreciate what you're doing and this is useful in decision making. As a small engine repairman, I run into the older gas Hondas quite frequently. The HRR216 series were notorious for  rear drive issues. Yet, many folks chose to rebuild/maintain them because of the unknown factors with the newer battery model. I've heard stories about the computer boards going out on DeWalt's and wonder about these Honda (especially here in the South where it's hot). Especially interesting that the battery still had so much charge left when you finished your front and back yards. Wonder how much they degrade as time passes.... Looking forward to more content in the near future!

I changed from gas to a battery powered EGO 5 years ago. I like not having to deal with gas. BUT after 5 years the batteries aren't holding charge as long as they used to. They are on the downhill slide of their life. And for the 10AH batteries they are $550 a pop. And I go through 2 every time I cut my grass. Sometimes 3.  So it would cost me $1100 for batteries in the next year or so. Not happening for me. I went back to gas this year and selling the EGO while I can say the batteries are still taking a charge.

Subscribing ... I currently have the gas HRX217 but it's got some issues and I am thinking of switching to electric next season.

I like the idea of battery powered and not so noisy for early starts without waking neighbors. But two months on new Honda not really a good test for dependability as far as I’m concerned.  My neighbor has me use his ego 56 volt when cutting his lawn , but if I use the self propelled a lot it wouldn’t finish the yard. It’s not really a big yard. I prefer Honda gas all the way. Even though I already had  a HRN only a couple of years old I went out and bought another new one  before they disappeared.  I mow several lawns  every week and half so batteries are out. Besides way too!!! Expensive

I just picked up a HRX BE and so far it’s a great however, the handle and the self propelled paddles are in conflict with each other. The paddles are somewhat in the way when you need to pivot the mower without the self propelled mechanism going. I have medium sized hands and whenever I go to disengage the orange paddles and use the lower handle to pivot, my hands don’t really have enough room to get completely off or away from self propelled orange paddles and they too frequently get accidentally engaged, causing the mower to jump forward while I’m trying to stay in one spot to pivot off of the rear wheels. I guess the Japanese engineers’ hands are all significantly smaller than my normal sized hands, lol

Bought Echo e-mower 11 yrs ago..still works fine..original batteries..never buy gas mower again..also bought battery weed wacker..never go back to gas...I know 2 other friends that bought battery weed wacker..they also love them

I’m so glad I have a hrx217 brand new in a box to replace my hrr216 that I’ve had from 2010. I’ll never buy a battery mower. Complete junk.

any issues while backing up?  on the makita e mower the rear drive wheels sometimes lock up, cut quality?

I'm curious how good the vacuum or lift is with these. Most electric mowers can't come close to the lift of the Honda gas mowers.

I have a new HRX-BE and it's badass. I will never go back to gas. I don't think it would be good for a lawn service business as they would need a lot of batteries, but for the homeowner or property owner that can charge on site, the electric is awesome.
