I think it should be called A Feast of Sketchbooks, especially yours, they really are a feast for the eyes. Lovely!

It is GLORIOUS to see them all laid out like that! So much fun.
I love it when you give us status updates on your paintings, it's great to watch them evolve.
Thank you so much for brightening our days with your inspiring videos.  Love from the beleaguered US. 🌻

Sketchbooks on the floor present a phantasmagoria of color, line, dots, marks that do excite my eye.  Thank you.

My sketchbooks are scattered here and there. Every now and then I come across one I’ve forgotten about. Flipping through it is like running into an old friend. Seeing all of yours in one place was wonderful! Your work has so much movement and energy. Thank you for sharing them.

I love the painting in the background with the white tree on the pink sky, love your use of negative space.
I can relate to painting a looser background and then tight layers on top of it, I do the same thing.
I recently made myself an artist fake book where I made rough sketches of many ideas and compositions from all of my artwork and sketchbooks that I want to explore more, that way I can refer to it while making new pieces instead of having to drag out all of my sketchbooks and art all the time LOL
And actually I owe this revelation partly to you because you're always talking about revisiting your work and finding things that you want to explore further. Until recently I would often try to improvise every single piece and try to go as far out as possible most of the time (which has contributed to a very scattered body of work), but this idea of developing things I've done before is not a matter of just copying my old work- it's really figuring out how to better express ideas that have occured to me, so thank you so much for that.

Watching your videos has transformed the way I use sketchbooks. They've become the centre of my artistic process. ☺

There's something so striking about seeing them all out together. I'm loving seeing you explore the inspiration in your Hastings series

Collective nouns for sketchbooks; A Joy of..., A riot of...?

I never bothered with sketchbooks, I couldn't see the point.  I recently discovered 2 part finished ones from the early 1980s. They were not sketchbooks really, simply A5 pads of drawing paper.  I had a non-critical look at them (as much as one can when looking at one's own work). I was surprised to see how good some of the work was. It gave me quite a  boost. You inspired me to buy three  sketchbooks of different sizes. I ignored the idea that they were to contain perfect, or finished art. Whatever I put in them stayed as they were.  At first,  It felt wrong, sacrilege may be too strong a word. I 'm sure you understand though.  Once I overcame that feeling , I begun to feel liberated, more relaxed and free. I've just turned 73  and have lot's of new possibilities and fresh ideas to work on in my art. (Oops,  I  mean I am 77. It's a bad sign when you don't know how old you are,),  Hehehe Thank you.

Love your cabinet, it is so sweet.
I started drawing in a sketch book about 3,5 years ago, not every day, but for the past two years I am doing something in my sketch book every day and I have 13-14 now and it is fun to flip through them and see what I drew on this and that day...
Thanks for being so generous with sharing your colorful beautiful art 🎨🖌️

Yes, the are evidence of showing up. So much yes.

What artistic abundance! Thanks for sharing. You are so fortunate to be able to walk to the shore! I grew up by Lake Michigan (truly an inland sea), but now I have to drive two hours to get there. You're motivating me to make the trip and see what inspiring plants are growing in the dunes!

When you said you used to throw away your old sketchbooks, I literally screamed!  LOL!  I love the group of three you showed at the end.  They are their own family and I think they hardly need touched, if even at all.

I loved seeing the sketchbooks all laid out together.  There was so much energy from all the vibrant color there. Loved it!

5:12 GASP😲 , you used to throw your sketch books out.... 😳  Thank goodness you started to keep these beauties!  Love your striped top and socks! 👍

You had me at "I'm an idiot" spoken so lovingly! I found so much wisdom in your conversation about your sketchbooks that means so much to me. I am sad that I haven't kept the contract with my creativity and made a better sketchbook practice, but as you said, I can start now. I always find your talks good for my soul, thank you for sharing with all of us!

Oh my!!  Would it not be heavenly to sit down amidst this gorgeous collection and digest the fabulous creations!!!

I love love love what you did with the twigs from the beach into the paintings! They are beautiful and excellent! Inspiration is everything! I will definitely take another one of your classes! I took the mixed media class and rewatch it again and again for it to sink in!

Thank you Helen! Your videos always get me inspired to draw and play and have fun with patterns and colors. <3 Love to you! Hugs from Denmark
