I’ve been creating drawings like this for 60 years. I started in HS, drawing a shape in the margins of school notebooks between taking notes, then adding more shapes and lines around each shape, building on it until it filled the entire margin. After a while, I started to take drawing paper with me instead of using the limited and lined notebook margins. I usually created them in black or blue pen, then added color later. I never made a spiral, but have explored all kinds of designs using this basic technique. During my working life, I took my drawings to meetings. I think I was able to concentrate better while doing the drawings, which I didn’t really think much about, just did them. Now retired, I am still creating these designs while listening to podcasts or audio books, having fun filling in with watercolor, colored pencils, markers, gel pens. Sometimes I glue assorted papers on my drawing paper before I begin drawing. Sometimes I color patches of the paper with watercolor or markers, before drawing. Even though most of my designs are just abstract shapes, lines, or patterns, I almost always include some organic shapes, usually leaves.

I've been trying to pause this video for 20 mins.. but have been unable to look away.

This is one of the best videos in the world. Ty

Drawing and painting induces a good state of mind. Watching an artist work is fun too.

Ulrike, thank you. This made me cry.... ❤ 🎉 ❤ 🎉

Great. Memories from Brazil.

I think this is the closest I’ve been to meditating, it just put my mind in a comfy happy place .

What is great about the magic spiral is you never smudge your hand!

You know it's been awhile since I just let my inner child just play with a page.

I must make one now.  I’ve been zendoodling for about 4 yrs now off and on.  I totally feel the need to do a meditation spiral. Thank you for the break from reality. We needed that.

Es macht Spaß zuzusehen wie das Bild,,wächst,,😊

Die Kreativität bewundere ich seeehr.

I absolutely LOVE this piece! I've watched this video at least 5 times because it's just mesmerizing! And I want to create a magic spiral myself. You are such an inspiration. Thanks for sharing.

You don't need what you might call perfection, all you need is You.🌞👩‍👦

Love this style. Thank you for such a great and detailed example of this type of art.

Ich liebe es soooo sehr DIR zuzuschauen 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

One of the most beautiful and mesmerising video I've ever seen!

So relaxing to watch, and joy to look at 😊

I sure wish I had a steady hand to draw something like this. Instead I do spirograph and color in those which is very satisfying.

you are so unique I love to watch videos and learn.
