Finally! Someone who talks sensibly about technique instead of repeating the rotation/relaxation nonsense like it's a magic trick to fix everything. There are no magic tricks. Everything is nuanced and needs adjustments based on your hand shape and the repertoire you're playing.

Most authentic video about technique development especially for self taught pianists

What you are doing is truly valuable.

As a musician living in a somewhat remote and challenging area of an Asian country, it is really difficult for us to get access to a teacher who can help us overcome technical problems that arise when playing musical instruments.

You are talking about a very important topic that is often not discussed enough on YouTube. I sincerely hope you will continue making and sharing more videos like this. They are really helpful to musicians like us.

This was the first thing I learned at the music academy, my professor was Russian and he was adamant on the way I placed my fingers, wrists and shoulders while playing, he was very strict, he actually even held a pair of scissors under my hands if I drooped too much, needless to say that I learned very fast! This was many years ago, if I made a mistake, he would say: One, then Two, and by the third mistake, he told me to get out of the class room and go back home to study.
I will never forget him, he was also a composer and God forbid if I ever played his composition wrong! Thanks for your excellent videos, they are so well explained, I still learn a lot from you although I am old now, music will always be in my soul, I miss playing.

The thumbnail hurt me personally. I've had that habit for years and I wasn't able to start making progress fixing it until I moved to studying with my current undergrad professor.

I can’t tell you how happy it makes me to hear someone debunk the forearm rotation myth! Taubman, bless her heart, created as many injuries as she helped. 😂

... very interesting video, thank you !

This is so true about the Ocean Etude! It used to hurt my arms.

I wonder what proportion of piano injuries are caused by octave playing
