21:09 this is the moment when the Girl Worth Fighting For becomes the little girl they couldn't save. There are no more songs sung by the characters in the movie from here on out, since it shifts from an adventurous romp to a serious war once they see the real consequences of the Huns movement.

29:37 - I read somewhere that he wasn't shocked that "the soldier of the mountain" was Mulan because, in his culture, women can also be warriors.

Mulan carrying a horse with her thighs… icon

the scene with her dad at the end always makes me tear up no matter how many times i see it 😭

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but Shanyu wouldn't have cared if Mulan was a girl or not. Unlike China the Huns actually allowed women to become soldiers, so he's pissed at her for her actions against him and not out of embarrassment at being out witted by a girl.

Mulan is sitting under the Great Stone Dragon statue when she makes the decision to take her father's place, insinuating that she has the powerful Great Stone Dragon spirit and that is why it didn't wake up when Mushu was sent by the ancestors!! as a girl who grew up around all boys, both in the family and the neighborhood, Mulan reminded me that i can totally keep up and outsmart them any day of the week.

Mushu: “YOU MISSED, HOW COULD YOU MISS, HE WAS THREE FEET IN FRONT OF YOU!”

Ah yes, Shang. Disney's first bisexual king

The Ancestors really just show up to gossip and party. They really captured the older generation perfectly 😂. Also Grandma is a big mood.

Idk if anyone's mentioned this yet but:

I'm Chinese. Her name works in both English and Mandarin-Chinese which makes that initial camp scene one extra amusing scene in general for anyone that knows Mandarin lol.

Her last name translates to the word 'flower'
we also say LAST names FIRST before we say our first name. Unlike in English, when answering Shang (asking for her name), she would've answered with her FULL name.

So when Mulan answered with her fake-name, her full (fake)name sounds like 'Flower Pot' and Shang justifiably has the biggest eyebrow raise at that cuz yeah...XD

as soon as i saw the “i watched mulan!l” notif i KNEW the video cover would be Shang & your love for him

We got robbed because apparently there was a point where after being saved by Ping Shang was supposed to say "If you were a woman id kiss you" but they changed it.

li shang is so your type 😭

Reflection is one hell of an I Want song. Ariel wants to be part of the human world. Belle wants to have a life beyond the tiny village. Mulan wants her existence to make sense.

11:40 Whenever someone asks me what my favorite Disney song is I'm always looking like a madman going "so, y'know the very epic orchestral synth power pop instrumental song that plays when Mulan cuts her hair? Yeah... yeah that one" 😭😹

21:35 the way that when I was a kid I thought it was rubble, but it’s actual soldiers and corpses-

Almost 20 years later and the whiplash of "A Girl Worth Fighting For" to the village still exists. This was an amazing movie and it still is. And yes Li Shang can still get it.

29:40 Actually Shan Yu did not point out that the one defeating him was a woman,  in fact, he may be the villain but, while everyone else is criminalizing Mulan for being a woman who sneaked into the army, he is the only one in the entire movie who just said “The SOLDIER of the Mountain!”.

Shang is our bisexual king and I 100% believe he thought he was gay until he met Mulan and went “ohhhh oh no I AM in fact also into women”

Two scenes that always bring tears to my eyes: when the Emperor bows to Mulan (and the people does so too) and when her father throws away the "gifts" and hugs Mulan, saying that she is his greatest gift and honor.
