Goodfellas introduces Tommy DeSimone as already part of the Lucchese crew. His actual criminal history before that is more complicated, with connections to the Gambino family that predate his relationship with Paul Vario entirely. This documentary covers DeSimone's origins, how he came to work with Burke and Vario, and why those early Gambino connections gave his murder in 1979 a specific weight that went beyond just settling the Billy Batts debt.
