I finially found myself an old broadcast Betacam SP camera.
I already have a Betacam SX which is a digital camera but I was looking for an analog
model and they seldom come up, or when they do the seller is asking the moon for them due to the lens being worth more than the camera. I finally found one without a lens, which is just fine because I do have a lens. Naturally it's broken but it doesn't have bad surface mount caps because Sony didn't use them in this camera or recorder. In this episode I will inspect the camera and see if it records / plays. I didn't solve all the issues, I just wanted to see if it's functional and then I will put some more time in and get this beast fully operational. It's 98% operational now.

there is a window on the rear of the VTR where you can pull on a tab and eject the cassette manually, but is is obstructed by the battery compartment, you have to take it off.
22:15 Looks like the belt is behind the pulley, not in the groove of the pulley. You must have fixed it off camera, because there's no way it would be turning the reels like this.
33:53 Oh that poor, innocent consumer machine in the middle with a metric ton of pro gear towered on top of it... The machine on the very bottom might have 100kg on it.
i got a BVV5/BVP5 (the original camera head) few month ago but came without EVF. and i really have hard time to find which model was used with, or simply trying to find a compatible one, maybe the one you have can be even if not the same camera head.
weird yours don't record on oxide tape, mine did but it's a european version.
so maybe another sony's weird choice like european UVW units don't play oxide tapes.
for no smd caps, it's simply because the BVV5 is the first camera beta SP recorder ever made and came in 87/88.
and fun fact as far i know also the only to benefit of the 4 audio channels.
