I appreciated that they depict Bean as someone who values honesty to even the people that pay you. He didn't need a yes man, he needed someone that was honest enough to change things

High school players are generally seen as high ceiling, high risk, where as college players are seen as high floor, low risk. That is why even though they are a risk, teams will still draft high schoolers, because in theory, if a high schooler makes it to the big leagues in his early 20s, you can keep and and extend him where you get him for most of his prime, where as college players are older, so you don't get as much back from them.

What an underrated movie. One of Brad Pitt and Johny hill's best. I ran into this movie by accident. I wasn't into watching a movie at the time but did and immediately watched it again three days later. Such an intelligent movie. Vary layered and philosophically wide this movie is. A masterpiece.

This movie is better than Field of Dreams and one of Btad Pitt's best including Diary of a Vampire, F1, Thelma & Louise, the music and cinematography is beyond words. This is baseball, its romantism, its history and charm.

So odd that he was able to easily buy him from the Cleveland Indians when they already understood his value. The scene with Beane, the Cleveland GM, and his scouts, including Brand, showed exactly how much they already valued his input.

It's probably the one game you can use stats to help win but this is now the big deal in all sports but it's not attitude and consistency over years are the real things that need to be measured and they aren't. Stays aren't the be all end all of sports psychology is.

"Pack your bags Pete. I just bought you from the Cleveland Indians." Can they "trade" front office people like that? Players obviously know that being traded is potentially part of the deal. And I feel like I've heard of teams paying a buyout to get a coach or something from another team. But an assistant to the GM? Just "hey Pete, you now work in Oakland. Good luck."
