2nd play, Verso lying counter is almost broken 😂

When Esquie and Sciel talk at camp, he says how he is also sad when he loses his rocks. Rock in french is Pierre, which is also the name of Sciel’s husband.

When you meet Esquie for the first time and he asks Sciel if she came to learn to swim. BROKE MY HEART on the second play through...

"Just like Verso is Verso's cousin" from esquie is a crazy line too on 2nd playthrough

Not really a new game info, but after you finish the relationship quest with monoco and learn his true story with Noco, and it makes you understand the old dog in the manor is Noco, and monoco is the baby dog...

The fact that Monoco spent his life being taught by Noco, as a kinda father figure, only to end up being the one to take care of him, and seeing him regress and forget with each death...
Feels way too close to what you feel when you watch a close one descent into Alzheimer's

At the start of the adventure, after Renoir starts the massacre at the beach, while Gustave is recovering you can see a blurred Verso picking up Maelle :)

There's a camp scene where Verso plays piano for Maelle. Maelle says "i know this" or "this is familiar" or something along those line, and Verso responds "i used to play this for my sister".  Quite an obvious clue but its still at a time you dont know whats going on.

"I'm sorry, Vers- HARBBLLGABLARBLLLHUUU!" -Esquie

Kills me every time.

The sound of Painted Renoir’s cane clicking on the ground is always followed immediately by a death. The beach, the clifftop in Stone Wave Cliffs, Old Lumiere.

In the Monolith you hear it sound for Renoir himself it the moment Maelle and the Curator blast him into petals.

But here’s the coolest part of this sound cue…

The expedition flag that Maelle plants on top of the Monolith after expelling Aline from the canvas makes the cane clicking sound as it strikes the ground. By removing The Paintress, Maelle has unknowingly set the death of the canvas into motion, and you hear the cane one last time.

Intresting how the Dessendre family has a habit of replacing those that die with copies that look the same.

its like how when you replay the game and you see sophies gommage, they play renoirs theme during it. once you learn why the gommages occur it fitting why they would use his theme there. Its a really cool foreshadowing moment and it also really encapsulates the beauty of another playthrough.

All conversations with the faceless kid made me shed tears my second playthrough

If i had to sum it up: the first time you're playing froma Lumierian perspective, but in new game plus you're playing from a Painter perspective. Even if you are an omniscient observer, you're still mesmerized at how everything little hint or detail makes total sense while in the first playthrough they were the things that kept you intrigued other than the brilliant characterization of the Expedition and the world building.


About Monoco, even if he's ride or die with Verso, i still like how he also lies or encourages to bring comfort for Maelle, Sciel and Lune like when he said "it's done, you're free. You're all free" after getting Alime out of the Canvas, like an old wise prophet telling to the younger ones that their pain and sacrifices mattered in the end. He still knew what was about to come, but he wanted to give them a last moment of comfort, even if it meant to lie.

When you finish the first Axon, verso goes “That was Verso wasn’t it” and you wouldn’t understand it till the 2nd playthrough

Sophie's comment on the Paintress made me expect her to not be the actual villain

The most surprising thing for me was the conversation you can have as Gustave with Sciel at camp that makes it clear that Gustave knows about her suicide attempt (and this conversation is brought upon by what Esquie says to Sciel)

Really made it seem like they were close friends.

I like how dialogues in this game make more sense on the 2nd playthrough, because you know the whole story; Expedition 33 is really like Attack on Titan when it comes to foreshadowing, easter eggs, spoiling things without actual spoilers

I beat this game yesterday. The amount of clues that went over my head  is crazy. A lot of dialogues between Renoir and Verso start to make sense. It's like a veil has been lifted off in front of our eyes. Peak storytelling. I never thought an RPG would create an impact on me. The last time I felt this was in FF7 and FFX. This is what gaming is about. Its art. I hope Expedition 33 wins GOTY.

First time I saw Renoir at the beach I thought he was an older version of Gustave.

Then, when Verso appeared, I was 100% convinced that he was a slightly older/alternate version of Gustave and that the main plot involved time loops.

First time I saw painted Alicia it was very clear to me that she was just a different version of Maelle.

Maybe the resemblance between Gustave and Renoir was done on purpose to deceive us?
