Thank you for your honesty. I started my collection by listening to videos that overhyped the perfume. I began to realize that many of the fragrances smelled alike just cost more and like you, I noticed that I was still reaching for the same 3-4 fragrances despite my collection of 200 bottles. I thank God for giving me wisdom to see what was happening.

I use my perfume for myself. I always had a love for it. As I got older and I started to lose my family, I bought their perfumes as a coping mechanism for grief. When you love someone so much and you see their face shine and you hug them with such pure love, and you inhale their scent that sent will always stay with you.

....and you get stuck in searching "that" perfect one ,and you end up with perfume addiction....and thats really a problem😶

I don’t buy full bottles, I only use the 2ml to 10ml samples I get in discovery collections and I already have more than I can use 😊 I realised for me it’s more about the experiencing new perfumes than needing to own big bottles.

Blind buying is going to dinner at a new restaurant: either it becomes your new favorite spot, it’s wretched and you get sick, or you don’t particularly remember it and would only go back if you were driving by and starving.

Thank you for a brutally honest video on perfume collecting. I have 200 bottles and I have such nostalgia for a time back in 2006 when I had only 5 perfumes that I chose because I loved them. After that... the hype came... and the FOMO... and the "I don't have many from this category". I'll give you another truth. Nobody wants them. I've asked around and people are willing to take them off my hands but certainly NOT willing to pay even half price. Such is life! Thank you for posting.

This video is so accurate abs truthful. Often perfume releases are talked about in videos, then you don't hear about them again. I find is not best to buy early, i like to take time and decide what i will enjoy. I don't buy perfume for compliments, I purchase what I enjoy smelling on me.

I don't think I found truths but after some extremely regrettable blind buys I got some rules I stick to:
- Never buy 100mls first
- Test on paper, test on skin and never buy in the first smell
- Blind buys only under €25, must be well researched

"Fragrance monk", I love it. I got by with 2 bottles and a rotating discovery set or 2 for like 10 years. It was actually totally fine!

Unfortunately, you are SO right about non frag heads not knowing or caring if something costs $$$. Isn't that funny how we invest so much time and energy into finding the one of a kind, unique, something special fragrance and it will never get compliments 😂 Great video Diana!❤😊

As someone who has worked in this industry for over 25 years, I agree with 99% of what you said. I have worked for Creed, MFK, PDM, Byredo, Kilian, Amouage, and an evil evil company called Euro perfumes who represent Xerjoff, Roja, Montale, Mancera, Vilhelm, Matiere Premiere (Vanilla Powder, (and yes, you are correct. It is extremely screechy, but we had to push it like it our lives depended on it), Maison Crivelli (Hibiscus Mahajad is my all-time favorite in the entire world), Thameen and many many other fragrances. I think high-end, niche fragrances are kind of like driving high-end spectacular cars if you can afford it, why not but if you can’t afford it, don’t go bankrupt trying to outdo the next person. Here in America, we call it keeping up with the Joneses. It’s not necessary.. Lattafa, Banana Republic, hell even Bath & body Works makes some beautiful scents that won’t put you in the hole. That’s just my two cents for what it’s worth.

I waited a few years for the hype of these perfumes to die down and then I made a decision to buy them for myself in December 2025. Armani Magenta Tanzanite, VanCleef and Arpel Orchidee Vanille, and Creed Sublime Vanille. I found good deals for them also after the hype. I also used up a few decants of these and decided they were worth it. I love ALL of your points. Great video ....
