I think Shaykh Usman really put this very commonly discussed topic into very relatable scenarios and laid it all out very clearly and was very easy for me to be impacted by the message. The examples he gives, and the real life examples of how our thoughts play out, such as using Allah as a means to our goal and not making Allah our goal. When we do good deeds and get disappointed after we try to "cash in" on the deeds...very real and love that it was addressed in this comtext
MaschaALLAH the sheikh approaches the topics from various points of view and elaborates on them while reflecting them on own daily lives. BarakaLLAHU feek sheikh may ALLAH makes us amongs who learn and benefit from it by implementing it. I love his series a lot. There must be spread the world over
I think the better way to say it is not to trust in yourself in trusting in a lot, so do not trust yourself to do the thing that you need to do and then trust in Allah trust that Allah will make you do that thing you need to do which takes you out of the equation which basically means you’re trusting in a lawto make you accomplish the purpose not trusting in yourself or trying to find trust in yourself that will allow you to do the purpose and then trust in a lot no trust that law will do it for you
This was a great lecture. We can’t fool Allah swt that we’re doing a good deed for His sake only but actually we’re doing it because we want something else from Him. Allah cannot be fooled and He already knows what is in your heart before you do.
Sometimes, I feel like there is a mark often missed when a discussion on tawakkul is had. It almost feels like an abstract concept only because I don’t think it’s really explored as much nor explained as well as it could be. I’m not a scholar by any means, but this only comes from my thirst of wanting to learn and understand the religion more. For example, the Hadith regarding the man tying the camel to the tree - what was the context of him wanting to tie it the to tree in the first place? What would be the consequences if he did or didn’t do so? What is it that Allah swt would do for the man in both scenarios? It’s the same for the Hadith regarding having tawakkul just like the birds go out to find food and come back feeling full. Again, what is it about the bird that makes it do that?
Another mark I feel is missed here is - what are the attributes/names of Allah swt involved in our tawakkul of Him? He is Al Wakeel, Al Fataah and many other names that I’m sure would be suitable, if not all of them. In knowing this and being cognisant about this in times of tawakkul, it helps us appreciate Him and understand our situation better. It builds our faith in Him that we ultimately know that He’s got us because of these attributes.
Perhaps I’m asking too many, unnecessary questions that in doing so can sometimes lead to heedlessness so I do apologise if this is excessive questioning.
