I honestly didn’t expect this to work anywhere near as well as it did.
In this video, I take you through designing, 3D printing and assembling a fully functional 8×10 wet plate holder with the help of AI. From working through design problems to fitting the finished parts together, the results were both shocking and amazing—far better than I expected.
This wasn’t just an interesting concept or a model on a screen. It became a real, working piece of photographic equipment.
There were adjustments and lessons along the way, and I share what worked, what needed changing and what I’d improve next. As someone working with a historic photographic process, seeing what AI and 3D printing could bring to it has been a real eye-opener.
Would you trust AI to help design equipment for your photography? Let me know in the comments.
