I'm a writer and have been stuck in avoidance for a long time. I get a spark and I write and I think Yes! I'm back! only to find, like you did, that nope. I wasn't. I got stuck again. Watching art, cooking, writer videos help and I am so glad I stumbled across this video from you. I don't feel so alone. Others get stuck, I know, but you explained it so well and the aspect of learning, of trying something new or different, and returning again... I always forget what my own process is for getting unstuck when I'm in the mud of being stuck. Thank you for the reminder.

I love how you broke down this entire process. I relate so much to the feeling of just being unable to paint and needing a break while I work through it. The important part is eventually coming back to it. I’m always a student first  in my mind and going back to old courses or finding lessons from new artists is so helpful. Also sidenote, I love wet on wet gouache and I love how you used it in your sketchbook!

Thank you, I've been feeling paralyzed for several weeks and your video about your process filled me with hope and energy to return to practice.

This ebb and flow has been one the hardest things for me to lean into as a creative for 20+ years.  Thank you for sharing its nice to know I’m not the only one ❤

Oh, Dylan… you have such a way with words and talking about your work that is so introspective and observant. I admire how aware and in touch with your feelings and emotions that are attached to your artwork. I also love how you pointed out the YouTube videos that were your friends during this period. This is how I’ve felt about your art, and your skill share classes. They were there for me during periods of learning, when producing art was more difficult for me.  I loved this video. Thank you for sharing!

as someone that doesn't understand about techniques I would definitely buy all pages, it's looks gorgeous and the colours makes me happy! 🥰

Really inspiring Dylan. It’s hard to start after stopping. Seeing this helps.

i really enjoy your reflections on creative process and practice and how it actually interacts with the ups and downs of life!

You have been always inspiring to me Dylan. I started this 100 day project and in the middle I got really discouraged, as I was watching this video, my past days went through my eyes. Thank you for sharing these precious moments with us. ❤ I am always grateful ❤

For some reason I thought it would be at least 40 minutes long video. So when it suddenly ended I was like “Wait, I didn’t enjoy it enough 😭”.
You have a beautiful sketchbook ❤️

I love the final results you come up with 💜
And glad you break the cycle of feeling stuck, your journey is really inspiring 🫂

Thank you so much for sharing this Dylan! As someone that struggle to stay consistant, this video makes me feel better. I discovered your channel last month, and you really helped me to get my creativity back ❤ I really love your sketchbook tour videos, so I hope you will make more.

These pages are my new favorites in your book so far, and that makes me feel curious and even a little excited to see what I’ll make the next time I have a creative ebb myself, just as much as during my creative flows!

I feel so inspired to try wet on wet gouache now!

So relatable Dylan! Thanks for sharing and for your vulnerability. I always love your videos! x

You're such a great artist - this is so inspiring!

I love you work and the gouache tip is very helpful!

Thank you, this is inspiring! I'm in a little bit of a rut myself right now, after being sick twice and traveling halfway around the world in the past 6 weeks. Like you I know that this is just a normal part of an artist's life, sometimes you simply don't create for a little while and then when you're ready you get back into it... and I'm ready to start creating again but feeling no inspiration and motivation for the projects I was working on before my break... Your video is giving me some ideas to play with, thank you! I will also check out the videos you mention in yours. Creative play and experimentation is always a good way to get back into a creative flow...

Thank you for sharing ❤ i think it’s only human to go through such fases, and that is okay. Glad you got your swing back 😊

You are an amazing artist keep up the good art❤❤❤❤❤bravissima
