You'd swear Sears and Kmart personally kicked Eddie's dog and ripped up all his homework growing up.

Buddy made it to the Backrooms and didn't even know it...

This video is honestly relaxing. There’s some nostalgia about brick and mortar stores. It takes me back to my childhood. Also the causal humor and pacing you use is enjoyable. Great video

I Miss sears with a passion man. It was my whole childhood

Good night sweet Sears

I worked at the Sears in the San Francisco Bay Area in the CCC; the Customer Convenience Center.  We handled (took in) credit card applications, handed adjustments (customer refunds, etc), ordered parts for Sears sold items and the like.  The family bought the new designed French door refrigerator from the store and its working approximately 30+ years later.  Those were days my friends....

This video has the pacing, storytelling, and feel of something bigger.
Don’t’ stop creating. Thanks for the good video.

I loved the way you could trade in Craftsmen tools and get the same tool for free if it broke.

there’s like a sears curse on any building that held a sears
there’s this spot in my local mall that was a former sears and every business since that’s been in that spot just fails instantly pretty much

The reason Sears hasn't shut down yet same with every Kmart is that they legally have to be there. Sears has $5 a month rent or other very cheap rents with very long term contracts, and inside of that contract, if they went abandoned, the landlord can take the property back and sell it again. They must have at least 1 employee and inventory in the store, and Sears is hoping "If we stay opened the landlord will pay us and we will leave". The landlords want the property back, but Sears will only leave if they get their money. Others that are abandoned didn't have the "You can't be abandoned" contract and Sears / Kmart STILL pays rent on those stores, its just cheaper to not run it but those landlords have to pay money to get those abandoned properties back too! Some landlords said "Oh were not paying" so Kmart in Miami sub-divided to open an At Home, but hey at least there's a Kmart still, they found a loophole in the contract! The Sears in Orlando I believe it is is getting an arcade in the middle of the store to also pay rent lol, compliant with the contract, but those landlords are furious lol

I worked at Sears in the early 90s--when it was a great store with real customer service. Employees wore suits and dresses and actually sold products they understood. Sears historically was the Amazon of its time. Along with Montgomery Ward, pioneered an entirely new distribution model with its famous catalogue and pretty much sold everything. Lampert did his damage, but Sears biggest problem really started in the mid-90s when it killed the catalogue and made the assumption that it had to compete with Walmart. The great irony is that the store that really invented the Amazon distribution model could not figure out how to make it work in the internet age--largely because they did not care to try.

I wouldn’t say in the world, out here in Mexico City we still have sears

It’s funny to read ‘the world’s final Sears’ , here in Mexico it’s still a quite common retail store

We would go to Sears quite a bit when I was a kid and we had a Kmart in my hometown. I miss them both

Buddy, I loved Kmart growing up and still love Kmart so you’re not alone

I love your passion on retail so much!! Never knew that k-mart and sears had a lot of random little spinoffs places, honestly would love to hear more about those little things, oddities like those are so cool to learn about. I LOVE hearing about retail history and this video is right up my alley :3 Great job!!

My dad's 1st stable job after moving to the US was with Sears. He's a mechanic & he worked on their home appliance repair fleet vehicles. We shopped at the Sears in the, now dead, local mall often cuz he got the employee discount. Tho he bought his tools elsewhere cuz "Craftsman brand sucks" lol

After working there roughly 15 years they shut down that garage & laid off all those workers. They barely got any warning. He got some training & joined the repair fleet for a few years till he found a way better opportunity. He's comfortably retired now & Sears is dead. Proud of him.

The Sears at the Oshawa Centre in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada just got torn down after 50 years in Oshawa but since 2017 the biggest user of the space was Spirit Halloween & The Region of Durham Covid-19 bootser clinic

I have to give you propos for finding what could possibly be the only decent use for those smart glasses

"One of the world's final Sears"
